Exclamation 8 week old sleeping issues!

    Hi guys,

I'm a mother of a nearly 8 week old baby. When I brang her home from hospital she was 4 weeks old. She settled into a routine of having a bottle every 4-5 hours during the day and 3-4 at night. She would have a bottle during the day, have a sleep for 2-3 hours wake up have a play have her bottle on time and then go back to sleep. At night, she would wake for a bottle and go back to sleep. She then settled herself and has been sleeping anywhere between 5-8 hours at night, waking around 2-3am havin bottle and going back to sleep until 6-7am.

The last few days shes been really unsettled. She wont sleep for any longer than an hour during the day and shes always making noises in that sleep. shes waking 2 or 3 times at night.

    any ideas??

4-5 hours during the day is quite a long stretch for an 8 week old baby (especially if she is less corrected?), so I wouldn't be worried if she wanted to feed much more frequently during the day. At hospital did they have her on a 3 hourly feed routine? She's probably having a growth spurt as well.

With DD it was a little all over the place for the first few months of having her home, (which I think is totally normal!) but one thing that did work for DD and got her to sleep a second sleep cycle during the day (so for 1.5 hours) was changing from swaddling with a square cloth wrap to using the love to dream swaddles, she loved them!

2 - 3 times overnight is probably perfectly normal for that age as well!
