I just saw the link on Facebook, it's devastating. I really feel for the families not knowing what is going on.

This is so sad. All of those passengers have loved ones and a huge handprint. I feel for their families and friends. So sad.

I have to second the thought that this crash will in no way get the same airtime as MH17 - but the added factor of it being shot down definitely boosts the need to get to the bottom of things.

I read that Some sites say it has been confirmed, but other sites question if the 'confirmation' is official and legitimate.

Apparently the last contact with the plane was them asking to change course due to a storm.

I hope this isn't another plane disaster :'(

The Palestinian death toll is up to 700 already.

140,000 Iraqi civilians killed since the US invasion; 20,000 Afghani civilians of which the majority of deaths were from US military attacks; who knows what the hell is happening in Iran, Syria, Egypt, the rest of Africa and Asia.

Whilst MH17 was tragic and senseless, the number of lives lost are minuscule compared to number of lives being lost around the world.

Hell the road toll in Australia was 1200 last year......

The Netherlands who are putting on this big show of respect and mourning for MH17 victims, were just found liable for the killings of more than 300 Bosniaks during the Bosnian war.
I absolutely couldn't agree more. It is the 'white person' factor. One of our closest neighbours West Papua is still being bullied and bombarded by Indonesian military and Australia does NOTHING. More than 500,000 civilians have been killed to date but do you see that on the news 365 days in a row? No.

This is not a problem of who's life was worth more etc it's a problem with media and what they chose to report.
