Default Feeling ripped off!!! *groceries vent*

    I just bought 2 nectarines for $10!
And a small bunch of grapes for almost $7.

Quietly fuming. No real point to this thread except, omfg what a joke! Feel so stupid that I wasn't paying attention and didn't realise until I got home.
Oh, and here's the extent of how much DD ate of her precious nectarine before tossing it aside...
    1406088631458.jpg

    breathe, Marigold.... breathe....

Anyone else paid a small fortune for something stupid?

And also, how on earth can 2 nectarines weigh 900 grams? Could this be wrong? I don't have any scales here to check...

It is because they are imported from the USA - nectarines are a summer fruit. Not only did you pay a fortune but they are likely to be at least a month old. The store has to specify country of origin.

I just weighed them on my bathroom scales. Barely registered 100 grams yet the check out weighed them as being 0.907! I think they made a mistake.
And yes, realise they are not in season and expensive by the kilo, but DD loves them and I only bought 2 single nectarines! Looks like I have to go back to the shop.

Don't buy fruit from Coles ! Find a local fruit shop - so much better and they can tell you exactly how fresh and where they get their fruit from!

hmm the 900 g looks a bit sus, I just weighed a small orange for comparison (no nectarines on hand!) and it only weighed ~230 g.
Unless these were giant dense nectarines I wouldn't expect 2 to weigh nearly a kilo!

Take them back and complain. Or write an email. I'm usually the 'let it go' type but this is not okay. On what planet does a nectarine weigh half a kilo?

I know. I'm terrible for it, just me being super lazy and wanting to get everything done in the one shop. Definitely learned my lesson here.

I find that Coles are actually really good with things like that if you are polite about it. So I would go back in and mention it if not too far away!

but yeah I try to get F&V from greengrocers or markets too

I found Coles good too. A few weeks back I found a lump of Nutella in my bread. I took a pic and posted to the their fb page. They replace the bread immediately and than sent a gift card for the inconvenience. Easy as.
