Default Advice from any Family Day carers or parents using family day care??

    Hi everyone,
I'm new to bubhub so please bear with me
I'm thinking of starting up family day care centre and have done some research online but there are still a few logistical questions I have...any help/advice is appreciated.

I will have school age children. How have other carers done school drop/off pickup? If you had a large enough vehicle and carseats were parents okay with you taking their kids with you?

What happens in school holidays? Are you able to have your own children home with you too during the day?

What sort of hours and fee system have you used?

    Thanks so much

Not sure if other states are different but I think in nsw you can have 4 kids below school age and 2 school age including your kids unless there's another adult there to care for your kids.

I can't help with the question about ratios, but our family day carer does kinder drop off for our DD. She has a large enough car and car seats and we are fine with her doing this for our DD or other kids in her care. She also takes our kids to the train station in the car to drop off her son some mornings (e.g. if it's raining). My sister's day carer also does school drop offs. So I think it probably depends on individual parents and what they are comfortable with.

Yes my family friend who runs a family day care has a minivan so she takes the daycare kids with her every morning to drop her own 2 kids at school and to pick up in afternoon.
Her kids are then also home from 3pm and on school holidays.

I've used FDC a bit and nothing but positive experiences! Both of mine have big cars so all the kids go in the car to do school runs. Just not sure either on ratios for your own kids during holidays but best of luck.
