Dating scan on Tuesday week - DP will be 7w4d so we should see a lovely little heartbeat. Oh I hope all is okay!

Thank you, J, that's great advice. I really appreciate it. I'm just crippled tonight, after a busy day with the kids. Trying to avoid bending and lifting but like you said it's impossible. So now it's very painful even when resting. The slightest movement is agony. Must have strained it somehow

Will try to get some voltaren. Hopefully it's ok for breastfeeding?

Meant to be on an outdoor pursuits camp this weekend for work. But doubt I'll be able to do high ropes and horse riding! So disappointed, I've spent ages organising it for the young people and wanted to take part. Oh well.

Bond, Voltaren (diclofenac) is fine whilst breastfeeding.
Put a hot water bottle on your lower back now, if you can.

Lovely photos of Lucy, J. How are you feeling this weekend?

The pain in my back got very bad overnight. I couldn't sleep for hours and felt really nauseous. Painkillers don't help but the after hours GP just came and unfortunately I can't have the tramadol injection he had with him due to breastfeeding. So if no better by evening I need to go to hospital apparently. This sucks!!!

I'm not a fan of tramadol, anyway. It tends to make patients very nauseated, with minimal effect. Have you tried diclofenac 50mg, and heat packs?

I used to see alot of lower back pain when working in ED, and other than paracetamol and diclofenac, I'd perhaps prescribe some diazepam (Valium) as a muscle relaxant, for a few days. But diazepam is not ideal whilst breastfeeding. You can still take it short-term, but it will make Meadow drowsy.
And you really cannot have morphine or pethidine for the same reason, and as a general rule, it is not given for acute lower back pain.

Unfortunately, the treatment for back pain is to avoid lifting, and GENTLE mobilisation, in addition to regular paracetamol and NSAIDs. Sorry to sound like a broken record, but not sure how useful it will be to go to ED. I just don't want you to wait hours, for no real benefit.

Feel free to text me, if you need to.
    J x.

Yes I was quite hesitant going to ED. I'm using heat packs and deep heat rub and paracetamol/ibuprofen but pharmacy told DH that I couldn't have voltaren so he didn't get it. He's gone shopping again now so asking him to make sure he gets it this time!! I found some metaclopramide and domperidone in my medicine box for the nausea.

Thanks for the advice, J. Xo
