Rebecca, good on you for seeking help. Having an unsettled bub is so incredibly hard, I understand you being anxious to go out. It's very stressful trying to settle them in public, you do feel 'watched'. Does Audrey have meds for her reflux?
I hope you get a space at the unit. It's not the same thing, but when I went to sleep school I felt so supported and 'mothered' by the nurses. I didn't want to leave!

Please feel free to vent to us anytime, we know how hard it can be! X

    So cute J!

Rebecca - good luck with mother and baby unit. It can be so hard when your baby just won't settle!

    Hey everyone!

Angus is going really well thank you for asking! He's feeding like a champ and I'm managing to get some sleep. @Lil Smurfy I am getting more mobile by the day. I'm able to walk short distances now and use the walker for anything further. So nice to be able to walk around again! Pain is getting much better I only really have trouble getting in and out of bed.

Rebecca sorry to hear your little one is suffering with reflux. It's so cruel in babies I hope the mum and baby unit can help.

J I love your pictures of Lucy she looks like such a character! Looks like her and Ava enjoyed their morning tea.

Hi to everyone else I'll throw in an Angus photo just for good measure 😜

    Thank you.
Audrey is on Losec twice a day now. I think it's finally kicked in and she is starting to feed better but when she was worse, the only thing that I could do to help her sleep was rock her and now she is difficult to get back into bed. She became so reliant on the dummy too as it helped soothe and she often will wake every 5-20mins for it.

It's just been very isolating. Like you J, because of my profession, the expectation of having none of these issues is enormous from others and myself (teaching others to recognise and respond the emotional needs of their babies) and here I am not enjoying my own baby. It's nuts!

So many don't understand how taxing it can be to have an unsettled baby. I had a GP physically get himself into the foetal position and demonstrate a babies security in utero and how difficult it is for babies to adjust to the outside world and babies do cry. I'm not a **** wit, I know babies cry. I would be worried if she didn't. But it's the fact even her mother can't console her is the problem and also emotionally tough.

J I live in melbourne eastern suburbs so going private (not keen on mentioning specific place though that does narrow it down). The staff were lovely over the phone which made me feel so much better about registering to attend. I called another one and they made me feel like a complete basket case and had a 22page application. No thanks!

I hope it's helpful. These places do have an awful stigma. Even around where I work and my friends. Mil isn't too keen so I just don't talk about it with her. She thinks it's best that she just come and help me but it's not sustainable and I really can't take much of her all at once. The other day she gave up trying to settle her and just sat and watched while I walked literal circles around my house with her in the carrier trying to get her to sleep. Awkward.

Anyway, I better stop writing essays!!! Thanks for all of the support. I started to feel like a bubble ready to burst

I hear you!! It is hard to be a patient in this town when you work in the profession. I am having medical treatment at the moment, and the Anaesthetist used to be my boss!!! Luckily he is lovely, and takes good care of me. Hope I am not giving too much away

    Look after yourself. J xx.
