A colleague of mine gave someone a nose hair trimmer for secret santa. It wasn't meant to be offensive just he couldn't think of anything and it fit the price range. The recipient was not happy !!

from DF on behalf of DS who was only just 2 at the time...would have to be the $3 "#1 mum mug" for mothers day......After he'd slept in till lunch time, got up in a crabby mood and brought me to tears...thoughtful gift...maybe from what was written on it but thats about it!
This sounds kinda spoilt and materalistic i know......BUT its not the Cost that was mostly the problem...it was the attitude as well as.....i know what the budget was for the gift (we have a set amount each year for mothers/fathers day)... I Was so ****ed when he told me he didn't know what to get me, so got that... and put the rest of the money towards Petrol for his car so he could go help a mate move!! Mothers day was not very pleasant around here!

He did make up for it this year with flowers being delivered, a snack sized bar of my favorite chocolate (on a weight loss mission so he didnt want to give me the family sized block lol), 2 pandora charms and breakky in bed, and cleaned the house

My MIL was the best giver of gifts that you never use, already have, or are totally inappropriate....
3 months after meeting DF she got me... a hot dog machine and a milkshake maker...6yrs later the hot dog machine is STILL in its box and never been opened...I had a milkshake maker on my bench...which was kept on my bench in full view next to the kettle...

The following year she got us a slow cooker...and inside was a "Madagascar" computer game with age range 6-12 or something on it and a burnt DVD of some movie we hadnt even heard of...she said she ordered 100 DVDs off Ebay and just picked one she thought DF would like from the pictures on the cover and got her partner to burn it because they gave the double original of the movie away to her Ex husband.

The last year she got us a gift (we no longer have contact) was the year i was pregnant with DS.. She got us both a box of Cheap belgian chocolates out of the $2 shop...which still had the REDUCED sticker on them because they were past their "best before" date...upon opening, the chocolates were white, and cracked and just foul. Funnily enough, it was the year we put the most effort in to organising her gift...we sourced a hand made wooden photo frame that could hold like 12 different shapes/sizes photos, and got copies of U/S of bubba and put them in, as well as little notes in each one from bub to her...

Sorry, deleting weird random-combination-of-letters post, which was posted during an epic battle for the ipad with my DD.

Worst present was for one birthday I asked for everyone to give me a board game and someone who thought I play too many games (this is what they told DH) decided to get me a Rihanna perfume set instead. I still haven't opened it because I only wear CK Be.
Yes I absolutely hate secret santas as well and hate that my workplaces have insisted on holding them! The worst part was pretending I liked it! It went straight in the bin because it was unusable!

Not a B'day gift but the very first Xmas gift MIL gave me was second hand underwear! And it was the daggy style with flowers and bows on them. I knew they were second hand as the colors and tags were faded. She also sat directly across from me when i opened it and joyfully watched for my reaction. Yep, she's got issues.
