    Default Job interview...

I'm looking at going back to work after a few years off. I was contacted by a large corporation who saw my linkedin profile and had a phone interview with them today.

After the interview I felt so annoyed at myself...I realised I always sell myself short. The Interviewer asked about my pay previously and I told her what it, was then stupid me added "I would consider less as I've been out of the industry for a few years". After speaking to DP he said to me that it would only take me a month or two to get back into it all like when I had DS and went back to work.
I have been previously advised previously that my pay at my previous job was on the low side given my qualifications....so I don't know why I would accept less.
Ah...I am a dill. I just wanted to vent.

Luckily the person still seemed interested so I am now going through next steps...personality test to see if I am a "cultural fit".

If they offer you the job, once you get to salary discussions, say "I'm willing to accept your offer of $x but believe I'm worth a salary of $y so would you consider paying that once I pass my probationary period?" That way you get the chance to go in, get back into the swing of things and show that you're worthy of the higher salary.

    Good luck!

ETA - if they agree, be sure to get it written into your contract!

Don't be too hard on yourself Night Owl, I think we can all be prone to doing that at times when we're nervous! It always feels weird when we have to talk ourselves up in interviews, and I could imagine it would be even harder when you're trying to get back into the workforce.

    And excellent advice from JR03!

Good luck with the job prospect!
