    Hi all,

We had the verifi test and the results are not good - positive for Trisomy 18. As we had two embryos transferred and two sacs grew I'm having CVS this week so we can see if the positive relates to the "vanishing twin" or the ongoing pregnancy. Very stressful and scary.

@HavingitAll, how very worrying, I really hope that the results are ok, how long for the amnio/cvs? Then how long is it to wait for those resutls. I hope it was a mix up and the results were maybe from the vanishing twin (not a nice scenario to have to deal with either) I am just praying that your bub on board is healthy for you. x

Congrats@stephgus on twins! How special! Did you have two embies transferred?

I'm so sorry to hear your news @HavingitAll. I hope the additional tests give you some clarity on which twin carries the syndrome. Hoping for good results for the baby you carry. Will be thinking of you.

Thanks for the virtual hugs gals!

KitiK - my doc says its only 2 days for the results from CVS as we are looking at a specific trisomy. I need to ask if we should broaden the study for other issues for which results can take up to a few weeks.

Thanks so much for the info @GeorgieNE. Sounds like you've had a really rough time. Hope the next scan has some good news. Glad you've been able to take some leave. Take care.
@HavingitAll, really sorry to hear that. I had a quick look to see if there's any info about the NIPT and empty sacs (I'm the same as you, one bub and another empty sac) and I did find one UK clinic that said if you've got a second empty sac it can give false positives due to the free cell DNA still floating about. Interestingly when I saw my GP for the Verifi referral the other day she didn't mention this. Wishing you the best of luck for the CVS-fingers crossed it's from the second sac.

@Grace1 I had the verifi which came back clear for trisomy and told me its a boy.

I also just had the bloods and NT scan (so I could see the baby really!) Results came in low risk - but even if they were higher risk, my verifi being clear would give me peice of mind knowing the DNA is clear. The NT scan is not the most reliable. (My risk was 1:445 but with bloods combined 1:3000)

The OB could always recommend an amnio/cvs depending on results, but given the accuracy of the verifi (.07% failure) I'd be inclined to do that before anything more invasive. Good luck with your decision

The NT scan usually has a physiological component as well - they check to make sure blood is flowing in the right direction, that the limbs are measuring ok etcetc - while the trisomy component might be 'doubling up', I think it's still worth doing both. (Course the full morph scan is at 20 weeks but they can often give a 'heads up' at 12.)
