Default Accessory renal artery showing on 20 week scan.

    Hey guys,

I just had a call from my Midwife advising they found an Accessory Renal Artery on my 20/40 scan.

She didn't give me a huge amount of info as I was at work and couldn't be on the phone long, only that it isn't usually an issue and they will do another scan at 28/40 to check. Oh and that it can impact baby's weight

What is bugging me is I don't know what they are checking for, what impact any issue would have on baby, and whether the birth weight issue is over or under size birth weight.

Dr Google has plenty of info explaining what it is - but not the possible health implications - so I am doing my own head in.

Any info from those who've been here before?

Hi there, sorry I don't have any advice or experience with accessory renal arteries on babies but I do know that they are often noted incidentally on perfectly healthy adults. Hope your midwife or doctor can give you a bit more info soon xx
