    Thumbs up New Foster Carer

    Hi,

I have spent the last 12 months going through the training and being assessed through a foster care agency.
I have recently been approved as a foster carer for ages 0-5 years. I will start off with respite weekend care.
I am extremly excited and nervous at the same time.
I met my case worker 3 weeks ago, and have now been told to wait for "those calls" for a child to be placed in my care.

Happy to help try answer any questions that you may have or would love to hear from any other foster carers on the site.

Hi I am interested what your policy was if you decide to take children in your care for a walk around the neighbourhood, does the parent have to fill in pages of information or what is the procedure, or do you have to plan these mini events days in advance?
Are you meeting with the other carers in your agency weekly ie playgroups and does the main person in charge pick you all up in their minivan or are you allowed to drive with the children in your car?
What happens if a parent complains about something serious that happened whilst the child was in your care?
Sorry for the questions its just really interesting to find out these answers especially when on these forums us mums would love to know!!

Hi @courts026 I have just seen your post from last year. How is the foster caring going? My hubby and I are about to sign up and will start training soon. I was hoping you'd be able to share how your last year has gone and how many placements you have received.
    Thanks
    Trix
