Agh my Dad is so weird!
Wants to come over earlier in the week, I say mornings are best so he suggests today. I say sure! He texts this morning at 9.33am. I reply at 9.34 saying this morning is perfect. At 9.36 he texts saying "something's come up, catch you later". What could possibly have come up in the 3 minutes since he initiated the conversation? He doesn't work, he's not I'll, I can't imagine an emergency of any kind. Did he seriously get a better offer than his only grand child?
P.S it's a vent because he does this all the time. Late to Xmas because he couldn't get off the phone, answers his phone in the middle of dinner and wanders off to talk privately. Strange guy my dad!

You know what annoys me the most about your post? The answering the phone in the middle of dinner and wandering off. My DF does that, and my Dad does it too... unless it is the house phone, and then he sits at the kitchen table talking loudly on the phone while we all have to be quiet Why?! Why do they do it?!

Hope your day wasn't ruined too much!

    Yes!!!
The funny (and irrational) part is that I didn't even care! It's not like I'd given up some amazing plans to accommodate a visit. It's just the weirdness of it and the fact that he's my dad so I'm always just a bit cranky at him!
But yeah - old people, put the phone down! Did you forget basic manners when you discovered technology??? I wonder what they'd say if we did it, over dinner, when they're mid conversation!!!

If the door-to-door sales guy I just saw walking up my street rings my doorbell and wakes my sleeping baby, I will chase him down the street with a big stick!

I really hate it when we go somewhere with a designated kids play area and other parents think that just because they can 'lock them in' then they don't need to supervise them. Then when something happens and their child starts crying it's automatically my child's fault because their child couldn't possibly do any wrong. Unlike you I was supervising my child and saw exactly what happened. You should try that one day

My son has invented the 'no clothes bell'. Apparently he doesn't have to get dressed if he rings it :/
