I pay $10 for before school care, so $5 with the rebate.

    Thanks.

I had no idea parents could receive rebate for before and after school care.

I think it has to be approved care.

But yep, we get the rebate. So I pay $12.50 a day 3 days a week. $37.50 a week beats the daycare fees any day!

    Oh wow that's great!
Someone at work (with 3 kids) said it's $20 per child, before and after school! She said around $500 per week and nothing about a rebate!

If children are in care until 6pm do they get fed dinner or just an after school snack?

We have Camp Australia OSHC also. They give the kids breakfast, and an after school snack. Ours is $24 in morning and $32 in afternoon. 50% back quarterly.

I work in after school care in an approved child care agency at the school and the ratios 1:15 but I'm sure this would be differant in a family day care setting. I would firstly contact a few local family day care schemes and ask you would have to meet all there requirements (including stuff that needs to be done to the house, safety glass installed, safety gates , safety door knobs etx it's quite a lot to start up on but I think they give you a grant).
I'm sure the walking from the school would be fine. I know a lady who does it (also had younger family day care kids) and she picks the kids up in her van so she has 3 younger kids and 3 school aged kids I think it is.

And yes they get fed an after school snack at 3.30pm. Most were picked up 5/530 with the occasional few kids around til 6.
