Default Same sex parents or parents to be chat!

We're thinking one of us will be mama and the other mum/mummy. This is our first so we'll see how that turns out 😀

Must be exciting for the first appointment! We were excited and nervous.

Myself and DP are going to the clinic for our first appointment on Tuesday. Trying to find out our options. Quite nerve racking but completely excited at the same time.

Probably a strange question but a friend of ours asked us yesterday what our children will call each of us. Would love people's experiences with this.
Safe journeys and happy endings for all
Our son calls me Mummy and DP Mama. He knows who is who too. Works well for our family!

Thanks so much @cherky and @rainbowroad.
That was what we were thinking as well. We were just after some input from people who have already got children or are expecting them soon.

I'm mumma and dp is mummy. Sometimes ds calls us both mum but it's easier to ask for one of us specifically

We have two boys 10months and 2.5years, the older one calls me mummy and my partner mumma. He knows exactly which parent he is asking for each time. Daycare get a bit confused we both end up being mummy to them 😀

    We often get,
Friend/neighbour/family: "go to mummy, she's calling you"
    DS: "mummy's at work"
: no she's over there, go to mummy
DS: "mummy at work! 😡"...... "Hi mumma!"

    Or worse
DS: "where's mummy?" (Just likes to ask if they know, because he knows she is at work)
Person: "over there" (points to me)
    DS: "that's not mummy"
    Person: (looks strangely at me)
Me: I am his mum, I swear!, I'm the other mum.....

Had our midwife check up today at 36+5. All is great. Fundal 35cm, but I feel the midwife is always a bit out as when we see the GP I'm always spot on the week I should be.

Our little girl is partly engaged (1/5) which comes as very welcome news! Midwife had a look on a very old looking ultrasound to double check it was the head she was feeling down low- which it was. Also had BT to see if my iron levels are rising again.

Have had the MIL here this week. Been good having someone to cook and help with house work. She'll come back when the baby is born. So for now it's baby & me time. Loving mat leave. It's such a good feeling there's no one to answer to or anywhere to be.

    How's everyone else?

@TandR that's exiting that bubs is engaged! We weren't quite there at my last appointment.

Going to have a little rant here...

We had our second and last parents class at the hospital today. I must say, isn't it about time they became more inclusive in both their vocabulary and the paperwork they give out! We got a lot of "dads" and "guys" although mainly dads. Wouldn't partners be more sufficient? Who's to say that the fellow that is there with a lady is actually the dad? In this day and age the concept of family is so different for some many people! Argh! We're hoping that this isn't a reflection of how they will be when we have the baby! *rant over*
