DS wanted a sister so I thought it best to find out as I wanted to prepare him in case no 2 was not going to be a little girl. Luckily he got what he was hoping for and I was happy to know too as it took me a little while to get my head around having a daughter.

We are planning to keep #2 a secret, we found out with #1... So I'm the opposite to you, haha!

I find it's such a personal thing... We didn't find out with #1 and same for #2... I think of it as a reward at the end for all the patience of waiting... As for telling number 1 that they are going to have a baby bro or sis, I don't think it matters really... Saying there is going to be a baby is enough ;-) my DS is only 16 months so really doesn't understand anyway.

We found out with all three. With our third we got them to write it down, and then we went out for dinner and opened it over dinner. It was so nice. I wish I'd done it that way with all of them, but still happy I found out...I felt more bonded once I knew if it was a boy or a girl, and after my births there was always so much other stuff going on (sore from giving birth, getting surtured x 2, no.3 I went in to shock and couldn't even hold my baby after the birth for a few minutes until my body stopped shaking so much etc. the last thing I cared about was their gender at that point) and I was so busy dealing with everything + checking out every teeny tiny bit of my baby and deciding what name was perfect for them that I'm glad I got the surprise early, in a time where I could focus solely on what it meant, or possibly meant, to be having a girl/boy. It was still a surprise, we just got it early

I'm not pregnant but once we conceive #2 I won't be finding out. I had a DS now and I desperately want a girl. I'm worried if I found out it was a boy I would be upset or depressed for the remainder of my pregnancy. If it is a surprise I will just be so happy he or she is healthy I won't care as much in the moment
