Default Terry flats - getting started

What else do I need other than the terry flats themselves?

How do I store dirty ones & how often should I wash?

I have a stack of mcns that I bought for bub who is due in 2 weeks but im thinking of changing to terry flats cause they seem so much easier.

Obviously I want to spend as little as possible though given the amount ive already spent on the mcns.

Do I need liners/inserts/covers etc or can I get away without them?

I used terry flats with my 1st....I recommend using liners as it makes cleaning up poop easier.
    Snappys instead of pins.
    Nappy bucket and nappysan.
    Clothesline in the sun

Ive got bamboo flushable liners for my mcns, will they work?

How long do I soak in napisan before I chuck them in the washing machine?

I have no idea about the bamboo liners but they sound good! The ones I used couldn't be flushed....(going back 15yrs now eek!)

I soaked them allday/night and washed in the morning to hang out in the sun

I use pul covers with terry flats. Baby Beehinds make some good ones...For liners, i buy a big packet of home brand chux and cut them in half and use those inside the nappies. If the liners are super soiled, they go out in the bin, otherwise i wash them and reuse them. As for washing, i have two buckets (they hold about 10 wet nappies each), and i only soak in water. I was them about every second or third day, than line dry. The UV helps keep them bright. I have had the same stash of 48 terry flats since DS1 was born 6.5 years ago, and they still look lovely and fresh being used for DS3 now.

Thanks! I like the idea for liners, otherwise ill pick up some cheap fleece

Not sold on the covers though, those baby behinds are expensive given we've already spent a lot on mcn's. Ill see if I can find some on ebay.

Or can I use my pocket mcns without the insert as covers??

I use plastic pilchers from target. Chuk liners and pins.
Nappy bucket with nappy San for soiled and just water for wet.
    Good luck.

I got covers from baby beehinds & snappies from big w. I wash everyday with 24 nappies...could get away with every other day if we had a dryer.

We dry pail in a nappy bucket. And dont use liners yet.

Eta: we dont soak them at all. You will need covers. Mcns might work.
