His bottom will probably be sore after that so yeah maybe using the drops preventatively to make sure everything is soft would be an idea, just for a day or so. And some nappy cream on his bum to help it heal. Bet there's a couple of little cuts where it came out. Avoid bananas, apples and cereals. They cause constipation.
Not sure I'd do a totally liquid diet, might be hard to get him to go for it! but loads of water, other fruits particularly pears and kiwi, and plenty of veggies should be fine.

I would do the coloxyl drops or movicol if he would take it. We found with our LO that since then she doesn't go as regularly, it builds up a bit before she realises she needs to go then it's painful again. So if you can help him stay regular for a bit that might help. Just check with your chemist first
Also don't be surprised if he's a bit funny about nappy changes for afew days, my dd got very scared about anything to do with her bum for a while after the suppository experience

    Poor poor boy!

    Avoid bananas.
    Try prune juice.
And, a new one to me, I've heard that coconut oil is good for constipation.

And yes, drink lots and lots of water.

Our boy, 21 months, drinks out of a water bottle or open cup and general doesn't drink much but when we visited friends recently he picked up one of their sippy cups with a straw in it (don't know what they are called) and drank way more than he usually does because of the novelty I think. Result: He left puddles on their floor (training pants couldn't cope with the unexpected flood) and he produced two very smoooshy poops that afternoon at home. We usually get them in the potty but these surprised us.

I have a variety of different drinking vessels and rotate them regularly. I started doing that after we went away camping and I only took one drink bottle. He almost stopped drinking until we got home and there was a different cup lol
