    Default CC for 2 months!

Ok so as the title says, we have been CC for 2 month now, since our little one was 6 months (now 8 months). When we started it was bad, screaming full on for 45min hour plus! A few weeks ago (yes it took that long) we finally got to a point where she was only crying for 5 min max and it wasn't screaming just loud winging. She turned 8 months 3 days ago and its almost like a switch flicked. She's gone crazy again, first night 1 hour 15min, second 55min, tonight 40min. My husband says we should be happy that the time is going down but I feel like after so long we are just going back again. Its really getting me down. We saw the MCHN today and she isn't teething so we can rule that out. Please tell me someone has been through this and has an exceptionally stubborn child like mine. I'm on the verge of throwing it in and going back to rocking. But then I feel like it would be a waste of 2 months. What to do? Thanks in advance

After she gets to sleep, how long does she sleep for?

I would say it isn't working, so you need to try something else. Google 'sleep lady shuffle'. You may have a child that needs lots of contact and doesn't like separation so this is a good strategy - it keeps everyone calm and we had great success with this. Good luck.

Sounds like the 8 month sleep regression. Google it. It will pass. Stick with it if you can. I've done cc and it works- but the key is consistency AND the results are not permanent ie that's it they'll sleep 12 hours straight forever! , it is a constant battle with sleep regressions too.

Don't beat yourself up if it's not working, or you need a break, you can try again later down the track.

And it's quite normal for babies to continue to cry/ grizzle themselves to sleep. Dont expect them to be happy to be put to bed.

Babies can still have bad nights here and there even after controlled crying. Ignore the haters too you are doing what you think works for you and your baby.

I liked the troublesome tots site- I found it reassuring.

Eta: 8-10 months was a very bad time for my dd

Once shes asleep she wakes at around 2am then wakes for good at 7-8. We are very consistent and have a good routine. Like I said it was working until now. It does look like the 8 month sleep regression. How long did it last for you all?

Sorry but that sounds like a sleep regression to me. I would give it up. I also think 2 months is a long time to be trying and being stubborn isn't likely to be the issue.

Sleep regressions usually last a few weeks. The best way to deal with them is to ride them out. They're very normal developmental stages and I found fighting them not only futile but frustrating and disappointing.

We actually tried the no cry sleep solution that the sleep school suggested but that didnt work at all worse then cc. So should I stop through the regression and start again after or ride it out? I just feel like shes never going to stop crying to sleep :-(

I would definitely stop if it's a regression and if it's not working after 2 months then it's not working. What else works to help her to sleep? What do you do for day naps?

During the day shes actually not bad just cries a couple of min the rolls over and goes to sleep. Which is how she used to be for nights as well untill recently. But she even cries when we rock. Thats why we staryed sleep training. Because we figured if shes going to cry she might as well learn to go to sleep on her own.
