Hi everyone. Thanks for all of your kind words - have just been taking some time to pull myself together but have been following your progress. Bit of a long catch up post...

laned - to answer a question you asked a while ago... yes we went through Medfem.

To those having issues with getting meds delivered - I'm not much help there as I got pretty much everything here except the progesterone injections - I got them there and brought them back, figured they were a more pleasant option then pessaries or crinone. I'm not really clear why we can't get them approved in Australia.
So we've decided to go back for the frozen cycle - both the fertility specialists there and here have said the chemical isn't a sign the rest of the batch wouldn't work, apparently many couples have success with the frozen after having had a chemical - so that's a bit reassuring. We will probably be heading that way late February / early march.

Faith15 - you've probably already moved on from this by now but just thought I'd let you know I did my donor cycle in Johannesburg and the doctors used the pill to sync...we'd also looked at doing a donor in Australia and the local fertility specialist was going to use the pill to sync here - I think it's just standard. We were with baby2mom as well and I had no complaints with Jenny at all. In fact I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her and found her supportive during the process - I believe it would be the same at the donor end. Also re places to stay - we stayed in camps bay - it was gorgeous.

CAmom - I will keep everything crossed for you and wish you every success. Enjoy Cape Town - I fell in love with it.

hope for all - we had a visa debit card though I have to say at the very end of our trip we couldn't access the funds to withdraw cash - we are still waiting on an explanation from the nab on that as it was unacceptable to be in another country and not be able access our money. Thankfully though I was able to withdraw cash from my credit card which got us through. At the very least I would recommend having some cash on hand at all times. We also had to pay our donor a lump sum on the day of retrieval - we got that amount out here and took it with us.

Myheart - I can't imagine what the last few days have been like for you. I have found one of the hardest parts is seeing my DH sad when things don't work out as we hoped. Thinking of you both.

    take care everyone

Myheart - so sorry to hear about your chemical, but wonderful to hear that you are seeing the positives in it. Baby dust for your upcoming cycle. Xx

Em - cant believe you only have 5 weeks to go. I remember when you were preparing to go to SA like it was only a few months ago. Where does time fly? Enjoy the lead up to meeting your little one. Such a precious time.

Laned - still no sign of my meds. 10 days up Thurs so everything crossed, but not holding my breath. Take last pill this Sun and will need it by prob Tues or Wed so looks like I will be taking Syranel. Sigh and I so wanted to avoid it..

Faith and Pinkshootingstar - great to hear your donors results and you can start planning the fun part - the holiday!!

Hoping4best - so glad to hear you are going to go for a frozen cycle. All the best for a positive result this time.

Williteverhappen - I would have loved to catch up but as my donor put our cycle back, we won't be arriving in CapeTown til 20th Nov so we will just miss you! Grrr.

    Hi to everyone else!

Laned the container is made by Sistema and is called a " snack to go " container from woolworths (plastic container aisle)

Here is a link so you can see what it looks like
    http://sistemaplastics.com/products/...ml-snack-to-go

It a small square container that has an insert in it so you can put ice underneath and the Lucrin stays dry on top. There is also a slightly larger round one called a 'breakfast to go' ..

Blinky - Many thanks for your post and PM. Such a good way to transport the drugs. Thank you for letting us all know. Makes for one less thing to stress about.

Mardi - Really sorry the meds haven't arrived have you got on to Fertility2U?

Hope4 - So pleased you have been able to get some answers and now have a plan to return. We too did our last DE cycle with Medfem. This time with CFC.

Blinky: Thanks for the info re the Sistema container, looks like a good option. Does it matter if the Lucrin vial falls over?

Laned: When are you in CT? Hope you have a good trip. Perhaps our paths will cross...

Williteverhappen: Have sent you a PM about the dinner...I won't be able to make it, unfortunately, as I'll be down in Fish Hoek Bay that night. Hope you have a good flight and hopefully we'll be able to catch up for a coffee.

Myheart: Sorry to hear about your chemical, but like Mardi said, great that you are seeing the positives.

Emski: Enjoy (if that's the right word!) the last few weeks of your pregnancy. Am enjoying your blog, btw! Am thinking of it as last-minute revision.

Mardi: What a pain about the depot injection! Is it too late to get a script for the daily Lucrin? (Or have you tried that before and no good?) I've found it ok (although ask me that again when I've had to do it in the loos before our flight...)

Hoping4Best: Glad to hear you're going back for a frozen cycle.

    And hi to everyone else!

AFM: Slightly freaking out that we are leaving for CT this weekend. It's come around so quickly. Just wrote a list of everything I need to do beforehand and it's a very long list... Can't wait to get on that plane now and see this beautiful city that so many of you have been raving about.

Patsy - no it doesn't matter if it is on it's side. There is a special coating on the top of the vial which allows it to be pierced by a needle but prevents any leakage (if that makes sense). I was worried about that too as I was carrying it in my handbag but my nurse SIL assured me it was all good (and she was right).

Good luck to all those leaving soon for Cape Town wish it was us but I know that January is only round the corner and our time will come...

We have booked our accommodation and have decided to stay in Sea Point this time with 'maybe' a side trip to Constantia or Stellenbosch for a couple of days.

Has anyone done a cooking class while in Cape Town??
(I am an avid cook and try to do a class or foodie experience in every country I visit). I missed out last time so am planning to make it top of the list this time.

    Hi ladies,
So sorry for the double posts – I didn’t realize the first worked and then sent another one…sorry

Faith - the wait will go fast, just try to focus on other things… have you tried reading the previous posts of what activities they did in SA..?

Hoping - I agree that seeing DH sad is the worst… I have people to talk to but he prefers not too – I feel like I let him down…

Mardi - have you got your meds yet?

Patsy - this weekend, so exciting..!

AFM - second BT was 16…so getting lower…I thought I would hold it together but I started crying while driving to work… It always hits you… I am waiting for my FS to call with what she thinks we should do now… Does anyone know if it is better to wait a month or go straight into a new cycle?
I think we should have gone to SA instead of USA. My donor had her collection on the 10th Oct and we are still waiting for the eggs to arrive in Melbourne…

MyHeart big hugs honey, I think its fine to go straight on to a new cycle.
I hope you hear back from Lynn soon.
Blinky, thanks for the well wishes, I'll be following your trip closely and have everything crossed for you and DH.
Patsy, thanks for the kind words on my blog... I have been a bit slack, but I found other blogs helpful when I first looked at going to SA. It was kind of cathartic in the waiting stages too!
    Em x

Laned - did you end up receiving your meds from the international pharmacy?

I'm trying to decide of I go that route or just get Warren to give me a script for synarel when I see him in December...

Also does anyone know how much intralipids cost in SA?
