Greetings from South Africa things have been crazy so I am just now finding time to post & update you all. We arrived in SA 1 week ago. We booked a safari for our first weekend as my lining scan was set for Mon with retrieval set for Wed.

Surprise, our donor responded quicker to the meds than anticipated so we had to rush back to Cape Town so DH could give a sperm sample in time on Mon. Our donor ended up with 8 eggs & 7 fertilized. Fortunately my lining scan was good

Yesterday was day 3 and we were told that we have 1 great & 1 very good embryo and 4 so so ones and 1 dropped off so Dr. Le Roux decided a 3 days transfer was best and we are now in the 2WW. We will wait to hear until tomorrow if there are any to freeze but Dr. Le Roux was not optimistic there would be any. He did say he still put our chances of pregnancy at 60% with the 2 embryos he put back in

We are now in winelands and sadly I can't drink any wine but the setting is lovely. I joked with my husband that it is god testing me and if it means by refraining from drinking wine I can have a baby it's totally worth a wineless winelands

Hope you are all doing well. Fingers crossed for South Africa baby magic! Our test date is the day we arrive back in the US Nov 3 so am trying to enjoy the rest of our time here. Cape Town and the surrounding area really are lovely!

Blinky - I am now aiming for my first scan to be on 31 January, just two days behind you . So our cycles will be very close together. Has your donor already had her screening? Mine goes this coming Monday, and i am so nervous, because i've heard of donors not shwing up or changing their minds.

CAmom Congrats on being PUPO . Wishng you a stressfree 2WW, and hope you have embryos to freeze.

    Faith

CAmom congrats on being PUPO! Enjoy the rest of your trip

Faith - Yes my donor was screened a couple of weeks ago. I was nervous the first time too but our agency (sunshine) makes surethey accompany the donors to all their appointments and really does a good job nurturing them through the process. I am so glad of this little bit of extra care with the donors , I would hate to have them feeling anxious or scared about doing such a wonderful job for us all. Our donor this time around is a 'pro' at it as this will be her fourth cycle. She has got excellent results in the past so I wasn't expecting anything bad from her scans/tests. DrLR must have been pretty sure of things as well as they sent us a proposed treatment plan before they even got the blood test results back. Will be thinking good thoughts for your donors scan too.

Faith - a warm welcome to you. As for the OCP. Likewise, for both of our DE cycles the OCP has been used by both myself and the donor, namely to control the cycle, sync cycles and prevent me from ovulating.

CAmon - I have absolutely everything crossed for you. I hope the 2ww flys for you. So pleased you are having a wonderful time. It's funny when your excited about not being able to drink

Mardi - I hope you have received your depot. I don't want to freak any of you out, but mine has still not arrived!! Fertility2U have agreed to provide me with a refund, just waiting on that to show up in my account. At least I have the backup of the daily injections, which I have now commenced.

As for adapters, spoke with DH and he confirmed there are two types, one of which was the same as the UK. When we were on Safari we used one type and then the other in CT. Can't remember which though. We also used a power board apparently (I can't even remember that!).

Have a wonderful weekend ladies and gent. Xx

Hey guys, just a quick question about Cape Town - did you exchange cash in Aus before you left or did you change it over there? I guess the fees would be cheaper there than here but will it be as easy to do?
we're thinking of of exchanging when there & using cash everywhere to avoid using credit cards due to the high fees.

Laned - thank you so much for letting me know. I'm so glad they gave your money back. At least if it doesn't arrive I can hopefully get a refund too. Was worried the money would be totally wasted.
Still not looking forward to using the daily sniffer or injection tho..

CAmom, congratulations on being pupo, everything crossed for you, enjoy the rest of your trip.

Laned, that's fantastic they refunded your money. I bet it turns up on Monday...haha

Mardicharli, you still have a week buffer, so don't stress i know you'll receive yours in time. Thanks for the tip with Myer, I actually went in there yesterday to check out suitcases and adapters, when I saw the price of $11 i thought i would check out ebay and see how much they are on there before buying as I didn't realise the sale was on everything. Now I'll go straight back to myer and buy a couple, so thanks.

Faith, there could be 3 of us over there at the same time, i probably won't get my plan till December but have been told end of January/February.

MrsErin, I hope you are doing well and out of hospital soon.

    Hi to everyone else
