Seahorse - we only ended up with two embryos after we had to use frozen eggs because our original chosen donor had only produced one poor quality egg. Of the two that we had transferred one was slightly fragmented and 6 cells the other was a great looking 8 cell embryo. Only the man upstairs will know which one thrived... But now that little embryo is nearly 5 months old and bringing joy beyond belief to all our lives. Your journey is not over yet... It may well be just the beginning for you also?

Well, I'm one step closer to SA, as unfortunately it's another BFN for me today. The HPT this morning was completely clear, not even any trace of Pregnyl at the 5.5 day mark. Clinic added, "oh yes, your period must be already here, your levels are showing it." Well thanks, it's not, but it's close.

I really don't know why I'm thinking that this will ever work. I've never had any hint of implantation, and just can't see that anything will now work. I plan to just work through my final options - one FET with the final embie of my sister's, one IUI with anon DS that my FS has agreed to (just so I can move on knowing I've tried everything!) and then go to SA for DEs. Two goes at that and then I think we'll call it quits. Mind you, my Mum said this afternoon about thinking about moving onto SA now, and leaving my sister's frozen embryo for another time. So now, trying to do a quick calculation, but that would put SA about Jan/Feb and I remember a number of you mentioning recently about those months not being good for donors nor CFC's FSs.

So just sitting here consoling myself with CCC at the moment - charcoal chicken, chips and chocolate, trying to work out what to research next.....

MGC Bertie - sorry to hear your recent cycle was a BFN. To reference your question re:cycling in jan/feb. Late January/Feb is fine for CFC , some of the staff take the Christmas period as annual leave but most are back at the later part of January. We are with Dr Le Roux and he is back the third week of January.

Sorry to hear Bertie... I had one of my own embies left when we left for Cape Town, I just needed some positivity in my next cycle. The trip and the young eggs after a miscarriage gave me something positive to look forward to, I wanted the best possible odds! I figured, I would use that embryo if Cape Town didn't work.

@ Bertie. I went to SA at the start of March last year. Began planning my cycle as my New Years resolution in 2013. Perhaps you can use your sister's egg and start the ball rolling with you donor search so that you cover all bases (and it may help with your positivity and state of mind - I know it did for me). Your Mum may be onto something! Take care xx

@Seahorse1 that's bloody brilliant and a really good sign. I'd be confident in this cycle if I were you - your embies were doing exactly what they should have been doing at day 3 - no reason to think they won't still be dividing away as I type. When are you back in Aus?

Seahorse1 - great news 3 have made it to the freezer. I think that is a fantastic sign that you have some excellent quality embryos

MGC Bertie - sorry to hear about your latest disappointment. South Africa is a great back plan

Hi all I hope your all travelling well.

This just came through on my work email and is important for those who are travelling back for number 2.

"New Immigration Laws for Minors Travelling to South Africa
Effective 01 October 2014, The South African Government will implement new immigration laws which stipulate stringent documentation requirements for persons under 18 travelling to South Africa, regardless of nationality and whether travelling with both parents, a single parent, with other adults or travelling unaccompanied.

In addition to a valid passport, minors will also need to present an “unabridged” original birth certificate plus additional documents granting approval for travel by the absent parent or parents, or documentation showing why such a document from the absent parent is not required."

    take care and good luck.

    Hi all
I've just seen that I had another PM asking why I won't use baby2mom, in the hope that this explanation will come up along with my statement, so as to stop people from freaking out, Jenny came onto this thread spruiking for business. It made everyone feel uncomfortable. I for one would not use her because of this. I found it to be rather insensitive.

I started this thread to give hope and support to those who had struggled and perhaps were unaware of the donor option. Not for agencies to come and target us.

As you all know, I am unfortunately at the end of my journey, I had to reluctantly give up, Im still not ok with it, however, Im lucky, I got my boy out of my first attempt. Whilst Im still very sensitive to my failure, which is the main reason I do not follow this thread anymore, I do wish you all the very best of luck and plenty of baby dust and a huge congratulations to all that have their BFPs and their new bubs.

Hi girls, I havent been on for a week and Im so saddened to hear some of your news regarding donor selection difficulties, failed cycles, and feeling deflated about the whole process.
Can I just reiterate how incredibly brave we all are to be taking the plunge into egg donation. There would be many woman who wouldnt even consider not having their own genetic child. but for those of us faced with this tough decision egg donation is our only hope to parenthood.
Most of have struggled for years and have still found a way to smile and get through the day.....and even found a way to be happy for others around us that just `happen to fall pregnant' (as hard as it can be). Thinking of pregnancy and loss daily is exhausting - we are so strong to have even made it this far. We need to feel proud of oursevles, not down on ourselves for having a bad day (because its bound to happen....and very normal)......many people wouldnt be able to go through the trauma and heartache that we have experienced over and over again.
So heres to sending all you beautiful ladies luck, joy, baby dust and positivity, at whatever stage you are at. This forum is such a great support for each of us on our journeys so we can grieve together, rejoice together when we get that happy news and generally support one another in this terrible little club we have found ourselves in. lets cry the bad tears today and live for hope tomorrow. thinking of you all xx
