Mr and Mrs Tittle: Great news about transfer. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

To be honest, if EDSA had more choice then I'd go with them in a heartbeat as I think it would be a lot easier. Haven't heard anything more from Dr W since I told him that I welcomed his suggestions but was also going to do my own search so as not to limit my choice. What happens now, I wonder...

Quick question: has anyone used AbabySa? Don't seem to get much of a mention on these threads and I wonder if there was a reason for that...

I used AbabySA - Lara/Tina and everyone were fantastic. They emailed me on my birthday even! Their follow up / communication was fantastic. They are also the cheapest. We even booked our accommodation and travel package through them as they had great rates. Plus we got pregnant so amazing bonus there!

    Hi everyone,

Greetings from Cape Town! Wow this place is amazing. We love it already. We are currently staying at The Vineyard which so beautiful. I think a few have stayed here already and how gorgeous is it? My hubby doesn't want to leave.

We saw Dr W yesterday for my lining scan (they brought it forward earlier so we can go on safari today). All looking good & I don't have to go back till next Monday when ER is scheduled. He told me to go away and enjoy my holiday for a week. So we leave for Sanbona today then will take our time driving back to Cape Town on the weekend.

Tittle - so sorry I couldn't hear you properly when you called yesterday. I was surrounded by noisy school kids in Cavendish shopping mall, So fantastic that you have 2 on board & 2 frosties - excellent!

Good luck everyone searching & hi to everyone else. I will touch base when we are back in Cape Town.

    Luca

Great news Mr & Mrs Tittle, sending tonnes of positive vibes they get super comfy and the torture waiting goes fast.

Mardi and pinkshootingstar, I also sent CFC an email via the 'general' email section but then found the individual Dr's direct email addresses and after reading great things about DR LR sent him an email directly. Within 24hrs i heard back from DR W and Dr LR but after a couple of emails just felt i wanted to go with Dr LR so sent a nice email to Dr W stating i had heard back from another Dr in the clinic and assumed you all worked together but knew they were busy and did not want to create double work for them. He kindly responded they did work together and it didn't matter but to choose one. I stayed with Dr LR as this is just who i felt a stronger lean to at the time but on here I think you will find that between everyone all Dr's have been used and have been good.

Great news Seahorse1, i too was worried about time difference and found a 4hr happy medium for a few days then fell into local time. Also, had to do a jab in the toilets onboard which was not so bad. Not long now, very exciting.

Cannot remember who was heading to Durban, but caught up with my friends that were born/grew up their and she said if you let me know which hospital you will be going to she can recommend places nearby to stay etc... Let me know if this is of help?

Tittles - Great news, sounds like you have a couple of pretty good embies on board.

Luca - enjoy your holiday before your transfer...I can't wait to get there :-)

AFM - Whoohoo, I've finally locked in a donor, that was such a stressful process! I think I've really gone against the grain of all the recent posts; went through EDSA, she's not proven and I'm using Dr H... Roll on the end of Jan/Feb, at least this gives me time to get my immune issues protocol ready.

I have a question for the ladies who have immune issues and have previously been to SA...I have a funny feeling my immune Dr will tell me I have to have IVIG rather than Intrilipids for my issues. Do you know or have you heard of anyone having IVIG in SA? If I have to have it I would rather have it in SA and the fact that it will probably be cheaper than having here doesn't hurt either.

Rainbowchaser - thank you so much for the info re agencies and drs. I remember your story now and how horrid and uncaring they were after all your stresses. So glad you had a. Great dr and the egg bank to help you get your precious boy. We are not going to use that agency at all.
Seahorse1 - big congrats on choosing your donor. Big stress over and you can plan the fun part of your trip now!
patsy73 - we had a brief look at ABabySa but they only had a couple of donors so didn't go further. Hope your donor search is progressing.
Luca - glad you are having a good time so far, everything crossed for great egg numbers and healthy embryos!
sunflower11- thanks again for the info on drs. Think I might stick with Dr M as she looks friendly or maybe Dr LR. Either way must decide soon as sending results off tomorrow!
Miss Sagi - congrats to you too on finding your donor. Yay!
AFM -Thought we were ready to book our donor last night but dramas occurred and after a day of waiting for answers and emails we are still waiting. Really stressing as have realised how quickly donors can be snapped up. Have a backup picked out but waiting to hear about her availability too.. Need to book our donor soon. Giving me grey hair!
Best of luck to everyone, wherever you are in your cycles, pregnancy or parenthood. Xx

Tittle: congrats on being PUPO! Enjoy the rest of you time in Cape Town

Luca: Enjoy your time in Cape Town

Miss Sagi: looks like we may be in Cape Town the same time as you! Our current plan is for late Jan/early Feb too. I am doing an immune protocol too but have already set a plan for Intralipids.

Pink shooting star: we too went through the automatic email and was originally sent to Dr M, she was very helpful with our initial enquiries but after a recommendation from Rainbow, we changed to Dr LR. Later on in our planning we were then changed to Dr H due to complications with our first selected donor (we had to change to a new donor and her testing was done while Dr LR was away). This was later changed back to Dr LR for our cycle. Our last appointment (follow up) was with Dr H again because Dr LR was away. I guess my point is that they are used to patients changing Dr's and often interchange themselves to suit 'the needs of the business' so to speak. I say if you have a preference for a doctor go for it. We had Dr LR for all but one of our consults and he was everything Rainbow suggested - excellent.

Mardicharli - I wouldn't be scared off by the differing profiles. We found the same with our current donor choice. We had actually omitted her from our search list because her profile made no mention of previous donor cycles but when the agency recommended again, we asked for feedback from CFC and they confirmed she had actually had 3 very successful donations. When I questioned this with the agency they admitted that they only update profiles periodically and sometimes profiles get missed for update. If in doubt get feedback from CFC about your donor and any previous cycle outcomes.

Seahorse: I too had to do two injections on the plane (Lucrin+Clexane) while travelling. I too was worried about how I might manage it, even emailed the airline to ask if they could allow me to do it in the galley if necessary! In the end the worry was misplaced, I didn't have to do it in the toilet or the galley, I actually just got DH to do it while seated. By that stage we were very well practised and it was quick and easy.

    Hi to everyone else

As for us we have completed paperwork and our donor is booked for testing in a couple of months.

Blinky76: Would you mind me asking who the best person is at CFC to get info re previous donor cycles. I've been trying to get some info from Danelle (who EDSA told me to go to) but no luck, so far. A couple of the other agencies are trying to get some info for me too (should I be worried that they are doing it?) but I don't think they have had much luck either.
Getting a bit despondent, I'm turning 46 tomorrow and am aware the clock is ticking. Still no word from DR W since I sent over my info and results so I'm wondering what to do next. And a donor who I hesitated about who was probably a good choice in hindsight has gone to another lucky couple so kicking myself for not acting sooner...
Sorry if it sounds like I'm feeling sorry for myself...
Hi to all and well done to those who have found their donor!
