I just had my appointment with Lynn and DH and I are feeling a little defalted. Maybe we're just being overly sensitive but she was throwing all the % at us about the success of my age group (36). I suppose she has to put those stats out there, regardless of my bloods being normal. Did anyone else feel like this after seeing her? Those stats sound so so low.
She suggested we give clomid a try for a couple of months If that doesn't work then its onto IVF.
Hi emee unfortunately the stats are the truth. Our age group is very difficult to get pregnant and its very harsh to hear: I hope you can have great success. I needed an egg donor at the age of 35. I wish people knew what we know from the start.

it's hard to believe because I know so many of my friends have gotten pregnant at over 35. the article i linked suggests the stats are not as accurate as people think. that data it points to was taken from studies done in the 1600's.
anyway, in the end i do believe it is very person specific.
    lilypily sorry to hear that
kelly, all it takes is one egg!

On the other hand for Lynn to suggest clomid she must think you have a good chance. For me at the same age that was never an option.
I got pregnant naturally at 38
My sister had successful IVF with Lynn at 43.
It's definitely not as easy at 36 but certainly pretty normal, most of my mothers group are 36-40.
    You'll get there!

Hey ladies, just a note to say don't be disheartened with low amh. Lyn used the 'scraping the bottom of the barrel' analogy with me - low amh, age 38 and I'm now 27 weeks with twins.

Yay go missy!!! Beta, loved hearing that most of the mothers are in this age box.
Well the more I think about yesterday's appt the more I realise that she was firing off stats like I was a number instead of looking at my case specifically. She said my chances on clomid were 10%. My amh is 18.5' fsh 6, afc 8. That's what's weird about it. I wonder if she was having a bad day. At MIVF dr P actually looked at the possibilities of what we could achieve as opposed to what we couldn't. She was still very real about it with stats. This makes me wonder whether I have made the right choice in changing. Then I read all your stories of success and positivity and I'm just plain confused.. When I mentioned to my Chinese herbalist that I was seeing Lynn he said "oh you're going straight to the top!".

Hi emee I also saw lynn yesterday to have my scratch it went ok this was my second. Like the first one there was some issues but we finally got there. My cervix is tight and even worse from synarel and my uterus is tilted. I believe they always give you the stats on that initial appt. if anything she has mentioned that I'm young 35 and that most her patients are in their 40s. She had made me feel better about my chances. Yesterday she was very good and kept apologising that she was having issues doing the scratch. Did she suggest for you to do clomid first or is that your choice? I believe you have made the right choice if you decide to stick with her. She will not waste your time and will try everything she knows to get you that miracle baby. She is very stats based and I believe she knows her stuff. A lot of what she has told me is based on research and studies.

Hi Flemo I had my scratch today. Mine went okay just a little uncomfortable.
Emeee I agree hang in there with Lynn. She definitely knows her stuff. I'm 42 and have every faith in Lynn so not giving up yet.
