I'm hoping to pick up a chicken salad or something similar from a cafe on Friday.

Weighed myself yesterday at 92.4kg which makes this officially the most I've put on during a pregnancy after having to almost bedrest for a few months. It will be worth it to have a living baby at the end.

On the flip side, from full pregnancy weight in a few weeks time plus a week off while I recover I will then have 40kg to lose to get back to where I was pre trying for this baby. So glad this thread has started up - I get so cranky and tired when dropping the weight and will be studying this time so will have to avoid the snacking! Feel a little okay about having some muscle tone at the moment from working out still but that will all go during the six weeks off post partum.

(And...no. No, I can't breast feed. Otherwise I wouldn't start until that was over. No amount of pumping, drinking, eating, sleeping or medications can make this girl lactate a little bit more than a little.)
    Hi Little Ted

    Congratulations on your pregnancy.

I are whatever I liked in hospital but the day I can home I was started low carb. It worked very well for me and all of the weight came off, I breast fed for 11 months too (but I note you can't for different reasons).

For me, low carb was excellent for losing baby wright, I wish you all the best.

By the way Little Ted, in my experience low carb eating works in really well with the while family. Meat, salad and vegies in all types of combinations, the whole family can eat it.

My hubby loves it because I cook lots of meat dishes, like steak, chicken, rissoles, naked burgers etc.

Weighed in at 56.2kg. Lost 0.6kg since yesterday and 1.3kg in a week.

I'm sure I must be in ketosis.

Hi ZE, sounds like you are off to a great start to the day with your shake.

Im going to make some low carb soup tonight. Have to wait for coles delivery to arrive though.

I have used this recipe a few times and it is really good. I add shredded chicken breast to make it feel more like a meal. I also add some onion and garlic for more flavour.
(I have also used cauliflower instead of broccoli)

    Low Carb Broccoli Cheese Soup:
    • 2 T. butter
    • 3 cups chicken stock
    • 250ml cream cheese
    • 1 cup cream
    • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
    • 2 bunches of fresh broccoli, chopped
Heat stock and broccoli until broccoli is tender. Mix cream cheese, cream cream, shredded cheese and butter in another pan and stir often. When broccoli is tender, put half in a blender and puree (this makes it a little thicker). When the other pan is melted, add to broth and broccoli. Garnish with cheese.
    • Add salt and pepper

Wow BigRedV - that is great for a week!

    Happy birthday Piper's Mummy!

Thank you so much TeBe and ZE for the support. Can't wait to fit into some clothes. It will be nice to go through it with others this time and share some new recipes as I'm a little over some of the ones that I used when dropping it after our other children - to the point that there are some that I haven't cooked since! DH has a super metabolism and even though we eat similar food he can't do the whole thing with me as he'd end up quite gaunt.

Thankfully our kids love eating salad and things like beans, veg soup and general veg - unless it's pumpkin (but apparently it's okay if it's soup - go figure!). I'll just add them in some carbs or a treat every now and then so they don't gang up! Oh, that reminds me - in your soups a great thing to add is pearl barley. Such a great grain and low gi that is filling. I'm wondering how a risotto would go using it - has anyone tried?

I usually shake it at the same time, coupled with a few hours of exercise, but of course that will have to wait until my body is ready.

Better get going...part way through doing bits and pieces for a TMNT cake. Need to go put their eye masks on and throw on some eyes...then do some words...the rest can wait until Friday...wish me luck!
