My niece's 5yr old daughter is Addison Rose. It's a lovely name. Don't listen to anyone else, if you and your DP/DH love it that's all that matters.

It's a beautiful name, love it.
Maybe tell people you're naming bub something hideous like Bumfluff McGee, when the real name is revealed they'll suddenly think it's lovely

I changed my daughters name from Layla to Keira because of certain peoples negativity. To this day I still regret it

Haha that's a great idea, I'll have to remember that when it's our turn.

I have even, from a close family friend (well my cousins mum), been told that I'm putting my daughter through a lifetime of hell, and that I of all people should understand because I have a male name too! I actually love my name! I couldn't imagine being called anything else, and most people actually like my name, after they ask if it's short for anything haha (My name is Bobbie)

Would you change a name based on these negative reactions? Or just stick with it because you like it? Am I really setting my child up for a lifetime of hell?

For those wondering, the name is Addison Elizabeth. I like that it's a family name, and very english sounding as I am English.
Gorgeous name! I have a friend with a baby addisyn and my mother is english her middle name is elizabeth. Love both the names...... I had the same problem telling my mother I was naming her granddaughter Summer Knight. She said it sounds like a stripper!

I love the name addison and would love that if i had a girl but dh doesnt like it.
When it comes to choosing your childs name i feel its between u and your partner. Its no one elses business. Dont listen to the negativity from your family and friends etc. Its your child and your choice.

TBH Ive never heard of a little boy called Addison, they've all been girls!!

I was very keen on the name Addison if we were to have a girl but it rhymes with our surname so it was vetoed.

As most have said ignore everyone else, its your child and your decision.
