@Petal40 remember to eat lots of protein and drink lots of water. I've had a freeze all before, but only because of high progesterone. They froze mine on day 1 and then thawed them all for FET but I've heard some clinics grow them out to day 5 and then freeze.

Gosh my piddly little 4 with a straggler seems insignificant now! Mine are around the 15mm mark and my estrogen is 1958 up from 760 on Friday. Looks like epu will be Friday for me, I have another scan and bt on wed to see how we are going.
Hope the scan Wednesday goes well. 5 sounds good to me

Petal, I have never had any to freeze either so I know how you feel. Fx that you get some good quality embies.

I agree Bertie. When you consider the collective experience of everyone here there is a lot of knowledge in this group. What I hate is that we're not involved in the decision making process. I was told to keep going rather than being given the choice. My only option today was to threaten to cancel... which I did. The nurse seemed very annoyed and said "You have follicles, don't you". As if the only reason to cancel is if there is no response. It makes me want to start up a new clinic where you start with comprehensive screening, move on to the best possible cycle for you (not one size fits all), have scans and blood tests that aren't cattle calls and nurses that give you an explanation of the results of tests instead of a 3 second "stay on the drugs" call. At every stage you would be encouraged to be a part of the decision making process. Drug doses, EPU timing, protocol for subsequent cycles etc. Every unsuccesful round would result in a case conference between multiple specialists: FS's, immune specialists (if required), dieticians, naturopaths, nurses, counselors etc and of course the patients. There would be options for those needing donor eggs including ordering tests and drugs for those going o/s and options for those doing it here. Full support. Okay, okay. Lol. Rant over.

That sounds promising chiefs. Under 6 follies is what my FS was aiming for before this cycle started. He thinks that makes for better quality in us over 40's. Don't understand why he has changed his mind mid cycle.

My old clinic grew the follies to day 5 on an all freeze. Not sure what the new clinic does. Does anybody know what the optimum stage for freezing embies is?

I haven't done a round with frozen, never get any to the freezer lol. So then there's the worry of the thaw as well. I'm feeling ok, very tired, sore & thirsty. Am wondering what the procedure is now - do they fertilise & freeze straight away? I was having a 5 dt, do they wait & freeze then?? On the plus side, hopefully I get a few more than 3 eggs.

Hi @Petal40, this one is right up my alley. I've frozen both eggs and plenty of embies and here is my take on it - frozen eggs have a much poorer defrost rate because they are only 1 cell, whereas embies are multiple cells. If when you defrost, you lose a cell or two, with an embie its not a huge problem because the remaining cells can happily continue dividing, oblivious, whereas an egg will lose its one and only cell. Of my ten frozen eggs, I think from memory I had 8 defrost - which the clinic were super excited about because it was unusually high, but all of my frozen embies have defrosted successfully. When I was freezing eggs, they tried their hardest to convince me to fertilise them (but recent marriage breakup zotted that idea) so that I would have a higher defrost rate.
So, with all my other freezes, my clinic has fertilised them and let them go to either 2 or 3 days then frozen only the ones that were good enough to freeze and tossed the rest.
Very disappointing about the cancelled transfer . Not only is it hugely disappointing for you, but there is the extra cost and stress that tags along with it. On a brighter note, defrost rates are excellent for embies.

@Faithandhopelove – talk about stringing you along and yes we deserve a lot more say in what ‘they’ do to ‘our’ bodies!
Good luck for scan Wed and EPU Friday @Chiefsgirl
Yay for your FET @Precious40 – they are so much easier than EPU’s in my opinion, don’t be nervous J
