    Default Travelling while pregnant...travel insurance?

I am planning on going to NY next year, I will also possibly be pregnant at the time (I am thinking second trimester).

Can I get travel insurance that will cover the pregnancy?

I'm sure you can but I imagine the premium would be huge!

Medibank covered me before 26 weeks as a pre-existing condition for an extra $70 (ivf pregnancy though). Read the fine print as a lot of the insurance companies don't cover for a live birth, only pregnancy complications, cancellations due to complications etc. good luck!

What everyone else said. Declare it as a pre-existing conditions and read the fine print very carefully about what it covers.

I remember there being a story about a couple that had a prem baby whilst on holiday in Canada and got hit with a medical bill for $1 million as their travel insurance didn't cover labour or neonatal care.

I remember that too! I have 'heard' that there are no travel insurance companies that cover pregnancy/labour/birth in the states. Need to start researching!

Is there a gestation cut off? Because at 20 weeks you're not going to be needing neonatal care.......

You can get travel insurance that allows you to be up to 36 weeks pregnant. Look up Columbus (I used this and I was 32 weeks) and Bupa (even later in pregnancy I believe). You need medical clearance from your doctor for the planes as well.
