Slow cooked roast beef - take 2! I overcooked the crap out of it the first time I tried.

Well not anymore - Can someone tell me what in the actual eff i'm doing wrong? This time the meat was cooked beautifully. So it was pink in the middle. But it was just weird. Chewy and flavourless.
It was a piece of topside. Decent layer of fat along the top. I browned it off on each side before putting it in the slow cooker.

It may possibly have just been a bad cut of meat. How long did you cook it for?

We are heading out to dinner tonight for my birthday to Giant Steps (aka Innocent Bystander) in Healesville.

DH is cooking roast beef & veg & I've asked him to make a chocolate cake for me for my birthday, I think he's nervous, he's never made a cake before!
