thankyou so much for your post, I'm new to this forum & also Clomid, on my 1st round, CD25 today & feeling nausea, heightend sense of smell & slight cramping..Did you have these side effects at the end of your cycle, not sure if it's the Clomid but thought I'd only get the side effects the 5 days I was taking the tablets not 2 weeks later?? Or maybe I'm pregnant...period due in 4 days...Any input would be greatly appreciated, & hey! Congratulations 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I'm new to this whole thing too. It's so nice to see all you lovely ladies supporting each other.
I have had PCOS for about 2 years (that I know of) and only know that because I was diagnosed when we started trying.
Wondering if anyone on METFORMIN knows much about it? I've done a bit of research but I think it's easier to ask..... Is it meant to kick start AF? I'm 14 days into taking it and the side affects are horrendous. My poor body assumes I am already pregnant. Sore, tired, morning sickness etc. Did anyone else experience this?
(I'm terrible with abbreviations. I read through the list but don't have a great memory - so I will try my best)
Good luck ladies im always up for a chat xx
I started metformin in December. My understanding is that since PCOS can be due to insulin resistance the metformin is meant to help your body process the insulin which in turn may cause you to get your periods.
I am on 1500mg dose per day. My doc started me on 1 every 3 days for a week, then 1 every 2 days for a week, then 1 each day for a week, then 2 a day for a week, then finally up to the 3 a day. I didn't get any nasty side effects doing it this way, I actually felt more energised. But I have read on lots of forums of women getting sick from it but mainly just nauseous?
I got my first period about a month after starting the metformin, then the second one seven weeks after that. I am now taking clomid with it to see if that helps.
Thanks for your reply
I'm only on 500mg at the moment and he hasn't mentioned increasing this as yet. I just started one everyday and that's what I need to stay on. I've been getting really bad hot flushes and migraines. Unfortunately I'm allergic to codeine so I just have to ride them out.
Have you been on clomid before? My specialist offered that to me and said it should work in my first cycle but I wasn't sure so I opted for the Metformin.
Wow, that's no good if you are getting sick from the low dose Do you know if your PCOS is mild? I hope the side affects are just temporary and lessen as you are on it.
I tried clomid (and provera) last year in September. Didn't get any follicles but ended up with a 6cm cyst Changed doctor and my current one said that clomid alone wouldn't work as my PCOS is very severe - AMH levels around 367. Hence now doing the metformin and clomid. Had a scan today and I have one follicle measuring 15.5mm so I have to give myself the ovidrel injection on Sunday morning.
