Default PCOS, and new to Clomid-nervous

    Hi all,

Am new to this, only signed up now as it would be great to talk to people who are in same boat as me. All my friends are having babies, and my husband and I are hoping to add to the party!

Got diagnosed with PCOS in the last 2 years, although always had my suspicions I had it.

Saw a gyno just over a month ago and was put on Diaformin, which was increased over 3 weeks to three tablets a day, and with no success in a period (always had irregular periods and was on the pill for years, but after loosing 30kgs came off it and still nothing regular) returned back to the gyno and am now on clomid.

Have just finished 5 days on Provera to kick start my period and am hoping to have it arrive this week which as people would know I then start taking my clomid from day 2-6 with a blood test after that to see if I have ovulated. Then repeat the cycle!

All sounds basic from what I have read so far on the forums, but suppose being first time user I am a little nervous and apprehensive on the whole stage and was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on their experiences with clomid and any handy hints I can take with me on this journey of TTC #1 .

Anything would be much appreciated, I am currently taking my temp in the morning (as per instructions when researching), have the ovulation tests and even apps and calenders to make note of CM and strange sensations to make sure I don't miss ovulation Am worried I may over think this whole process

Hope to hear from someone !

    Hi tassiewife,
I am in a similar boat to you I think.
i was diagnosed with poly cystic ovaries a few months ago (had suspicions though) after not having a period in 5 months.
I was referred to a fertility specialist who put me on provera to bring on my period and then also put me on Letrazole for days 2 - 6 of my cycle. At the moment I'm on Cd 12 and I also have to have a blood test on day 21-22 to see if I ovulated. Was meant to boogie with DH on days 11,12,13,14,15 however he has left for work this morning and he will be away a few days and I am away with my work for the week also. So no chance of a BFP for us unless I ovulate late ie next week. Fingers crossed.

I have been taking my temps of a morning but I have Rocky Mountains on my chart which I think may be normal for people with PCO.

Think positive with your whole journey and hope for a BFP soon x

    Hi DaniSam,

We appear to be in the same circumstances! I get so slack with taking my temps, and will totally forget some mornings and by the time I remember there is no point doing it as I have gotten up and dressed etc.

I am hoping I get my period this week, and then hope for some nice time with the DH after that. I am just so nervous that I won't ovulate at all, but trying to think positive !!

Hopefully with the blood test you get a positive yes to ovulation !!!!!!

    Hi tassiewife,
Well at the moment I think I am still waiting to ovulate. Was meant to be this week but as yet I haven't really had any signs. So the blood test will definitely tell me what's going on hopefully.

    How are things with you?
Hope you have a great long weekend

    Hi DaniSam,

Are you using the ovulation testers? I've got a couple myself that I will try in the coming weeks! Have heard good things about them but also some people say they haven't worked for them so suppose it is all personal preference.

I took my second clomid tablet today so 3 more to take ! So far no side effects which is good and am feeling good!

When is your blood test? And what signs are you lookin for to show possibly ovulation?

Hope you're having a good weekend!

    Hi tassiewife,

well I was due to ovulate last week and I was using the ovulation tests and wasnt getting any readings. And then I wasn't getting and CM change signs so I have assumed that I have not ovulated. I have my blood test done on Tuesday/Wednesday. But it would be fantastic to think I ovulated later and no visible cm signs.

So glad to hear the clomid tablets aren't making you feel nausious. I really hope something happens for you.
    Mwill keep you updated

Weekend is going well. Spending time with family

    Hi DaniSam,
I have read that CM does not present it's self as much when taking clomid so t was a good idea to have been trying the ovulation kits as well, although it appears they didn't work this time 😔

It will be interesting to see if you did O , as I seriously find this all very fascinating, except I don't like it happening to me (Lol).

I have always had trouble with my periods and the initial and only reason I ever went on the pill was because I was irregular. So reading all this info about periods and even ovulation is very interesting! I hve learnt so much!! Haha.

Glad you're having a nice weekend with the family! I'm doing exactly the same here 😄

    Hi tassiewife,

i did not know about the CM. this could be why I did not detect any.
But I did travel away for work so I didn't use the ovulation kits since day 12. So maybe I did ovulate. I thought I would be able to tell by CM. anyway will be good to know from blood test.
I don't know what will happen if I didnt. I suppose sit in limbo until my period comes again.
I agree with you - I did not know any of this lol. So a great learning curve.

I first went on birth control for my acne. It was fantastic controlled my breakouts. And now I'm getting spots back again trying to stay clear if greasy unhealthy foods. It's proving very challenging though. And my periods were always irregular. I think I went a few months without period arriving but back then it didnt worry me. Now I just want my period to arrive to keep trying.
Had a great weekend - now back to work today.

    Hi Ladies,

Just to let you know I am a clomid success. A very similar story, suspected PCOS many years ago but took a while to get diagnosed. Needed 3 goes with the clomid to get it right, did all the temping and the OPK's. None of them worked for me the only thing was the BTs to show ovulation. Never got any EWCM. Managed to catch one and now have a healthy 13month old. Stay positive and FX ladies.

    HI Miniroo,

thanks for posting your success story as that will give us both hope!
I am nervous about Ovulation etc and what happens when my AF finishes (which is in the coming days).
I am interested to know (although TMI I am sure) how long peoples cycle lasts while on clomid etc? I got my AF last week and it is still there, although slowing down, should be finished in a couple of days completely...
Also interested to know what the go is with clomid, like should in theory my cycle start again on its own? From what I have read it doesn't necessarily put it on a 28 day cycle but should start some sort of cycle if clomid and my body work together!!!

All this gets way too confusing!!

DaniSam, make sure you let me know how you go after you BT- as I am keen to know
