I definitely paid tax in 2012/2013!

it's quite irrelevant wether one paid taxes or not we all have the right to an opinion about how our country is governed.

And I mean all. So that includes drug users on the dole too

    How is your pregnancy going?
Thanks VicPark. Feeling a lot more level headed today, yesterday was a bad day but I received a lot of supportive pm's from beautiful ladies and it made me get some perspective lol. My problem was never that people disagreed with me, it was the manner in how it was delivered, and having someone write a pretty scathing response and having 15 other members thank that person for the post - ouch!

But anyhow, I'm all good now, that's life and not everyone is going to be my bestie. Just never been involved in anything like this so it's all new for me. I think I'll definitely stay away from political threads because I am a bit too sensitive for them and I don't cope well with the style of debate they involve on here. Lesson learnt.

Pregnancy is going along ok so far (10 weeks today) just feeling really sick so that's challenging with 2 little ones

    Thanks again!

We have a huge issue in our culture that says doing drugs is ok.....as long as it is not every day.....smoking weed is harmless.....I need to drink to relax and have fun.
Absolutely our culture needs an overhaul when it comes to drug use! Whilst nicotine is less socially acceptable than ever before, it's still legal - and it causes so many health issues and costs the country a fortune in smoking related illness (not anti smokers - I was one up until about 5 months ago and know how hard it is to quit)
But add to that alcohol - the most socially accepted drug we have and forms part of nearly every social occasion we attend. The dangers of alcohol misuse are huge.
Everyone needs more info and education.

I agree. I was originally replying to another post where it was questioned whether a SAHM would be paying tax that's all 😊

Meh there are a lot of other attitude that creates vast health issues that are not being targeted and that are legal.

The biggest issue here is with illegal drugs.

Sorry but we ALL pay tax! Ever bought anything from the shops? Food, clothes, utilities, called a plumber?

I have no issue with the 'my tax dollars' line, we all pay it. We all live here, we can be concerned at where OUR money goes.

You pay fees to a bank, that's MY money they are profiting from and I don't like how their executives get paid so I use a Credit Union.

You buy something from a brand that later turns out treats its manufacturing staff like slaves paying under minimum wage and in unsafe conditions, I'm going to care where MY money is going, so I'll stop buying from that brand and choose an alternative.

Those last two things we can control by being picky about who we buy from, unfortunately, we can't be picky with who we pay our taxes to, so yes its very annoying that MY tax dollars could be wasted by our current government in things like drug testing those on welfare or putting it into a ridiculous chaplaincy scheme. Also how they raise their taxes - don't worry Gina and Clive, stop paying the carbon tax, we'll just take money away from those people in our society who desperately need it to stay alive....

Good point about the GST. Not everyone pays what I consider to be gross tax though.. If you are only receiving welfare (ie not earning an income) then theoretically you are paying GST with taxpayers money not money you have earned.

Sort of irrelevant though because I think everyone has a right to express a concern about a suggested government policy. It's a technicality that only some (according to my rules!) can quote the "my tax dollars" line while doing that.
