Default What's your earliest childhood memory?

    What's your earliest memory?

and what are your favourite memories of childhood?

I was talking with a work friend today at lunch about our kids and we got into what kids actually remember etc... I have definite both pleasant and non-pleasant (and just bizarre) memories from when I was about 2. There are big gaps in my life where I remember nothing! Probably due to age and also possibly trauma.

I wish I had more photos of my early years, or video even.

    You?

For the record, my earliest memory is being in the bathtub with my brother and he did a poop in the bath - a big one. That's it, no memory of anything except the horror of the large poop floating in the bathwater.... Strange memory! And the only one I have of that house (we moved several times in my early years after I was 2).

My favourite.... Playing with the neighbourhood kids, always outdoors, collecting tadpoles, cicadas til dusk, skiing holidays, resort holidays and camping holidays, my parents constant and very scary fights (not favourite but significant still daily memory), parties (my parents had lots of parties), my parents dramatic friends (they were actors and academics).....

Mine would be at my cousins' house in rural area and my uncle letting off fireworks at the night time. It was winter time as I remember being all rugged up with a beanie on. I was may be 7 or 8yrs old.
Can't remember really anything before that well.

I have some lovely memories of an old aunty who died when I was 14 months old. I also remember going to the doctor in a town we left when I was 18 months old. Apart from those my next memories are not till I am 2.5 years old.

Interesting variation in age of memories there. I commonly am reminded of my memories lately and I find it interesting.

I remember meeting my great grandfather when I was 18 months old - and then nothing for a few years after that.

My first memory that I can identify as a specific time was when my brother was born when I was 2, I remember going to the hospital and visiting him and Mum.
