    Default Bio oil alternative???

Hi All, I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant with my first baby and if possible would like to avoid stretch marks so I've been using bio oil for a few weeks... No stretch marks so far but the oil must be blocking my pores because it's causing pimples on my tummy which I've never had before! Any substitute product suggestions?

Palmers (cocoa butter brand) do a similar oil.

There's a lovely product range made down south here in WA called Tinderbox. They have a specific belly and breast rub for pregnancy which is fantastic.

I've also used the Sukin wellbeing body oil. Even plain extra virgin coconut oil would be good, in fact that would probably top them all!

Coconut oil. Keep a big jar in the shower so it melts in the heat and slather it on before you've dried off. No stretch marks here and that's what I did (bio oil costs a fortune too!)

I used bio oil and aqueous cream with #1 = no stretchmarks
I used nothing with #2 and no stetchmarks - so i'm not sure anything prevents them, perhaps its more genetics? Although saything that i got them on my thighs and boobs when younger so who knows?

It's more expensive but I have been using Clarins Body Toning Oil twice a day since about 5 weeks. I am now 38 weeks and no stretch marks so far....

@Mmumm I always wonder if these things actually do anything but at the same time, I'd hate to do nothing and end up with stretch marks wondering if a cream would have prevented them! Beauty products really are all a money making business!

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I'm wondering if I can avoid 'oils' and use a body moisturizer instead. Do you think it's the sane concept? Just about keeping your skin hydrated?

I'm afraid nothing can prevent stretch marks as they occur deep within the skin (ie, not just on the outer layers of skin).

Having said that having your other half massage creams and potions into a preggy belly is very relaxing so don't tell anyone!!

    Yes! Sweet almond oil.
I bought a few bottles of the bio oil when I was pregnant last time but started worrying about the long long LONG list of ingredients in it. What was I smearing all over my belly?! So I switched to almond oil. No stretch marks, but that might not be as a result of the almond oil. Using it again this pregnancy. I like it because it is just ONE ingredient.
