What area are you staying in? I can probably recommend some restaurants, spas, shopping nearby.

If you can get into Potato Heads or La Lucciola it is definitely worth it. If you like Japanese I highly recommend Blue Fin in Legian. I found quite a few good bargains at Discovery Shopping Centre.

Good choice. Here we go: try Kudeta or Potatohead for sunset cocktails (get there about 4pm to get a seat); La Lucciola, Sarong or Sardine for a special dinner; Motel Mexicola or sea circus for fun Mexican themed food/drinks. Petitenget cafe or grocer & grind for coffee. My fav place to shop is Oberoi Flea Market: from seminyak square follow the road around toward Kudeta & it's a car park full of markets you can get everything there! Most taxi drivers will know it. Bodyworks for spa treatments (very popular, drop in to see menu & book) or Prana spa for a really special spa treatment (not cheap, but amazing!) - they will send a driver for you if you ask. Both have websites. Maybe try a day trip to the volcano it's pretty spectacular. We did a cycling tour which started with brekkie at the volcano, downhill cycling through rice paddies & villages & lunch at a traditional home, it was a great way to see bali.

Only get the blue taxis & make sure they turn the meter on. Be careful the footpaths are awful. Always haggle in markets but not in a shop with a door. I have found that day trips booked through the hotel or with well known companies are better quality than the cheaper trips you can book from booths on the street. I love Bali, have fun!

Bali safari and marine park (ride an elephant, hold an orangutan, pet a tiger etc) waterbomb park for a bit of fun - across the road from discovery shopping centre. Lots of lovely places to eat (try Pearl, its a french place in seminyak from memory). And yes the footpaths are horrific, watch for gaping holes. Have fun and stay safe :-)

Water sports & Turtle Island at Nusa Dua are great, shopping at CarreFour or MataHari is good fun, and I second what a PP said about the taxis - we only ever get in the BlueBird taxis as they have a meter.

Also when shopping at the markets, try and haggle as best you can, apparently there is a system regarding the shopping bags - if they give you a white bag, it lets the others know that you're an easy mark/they can rip you off, and you're a hard bargainer if they give you a black bag. There are also black and white striped bags, which I suppose might mean they think you can be talked round. That's just what we heard so don't take it as gospel, though on our first day we were given a white bag, then someone told us of the system and DH made sure we always left with a black bag after that!
