    Default Health smoothie questions

Im a bit late on the band wagon but just started this week making a green or healthy smoothie in the morning for me and 2yr old ds before our toast.
I have so far made kale plus banana mango pinapple and spinach plus mixed berries . Frozen berries I buy in packets from coles.
So yum and ds doesnt like veggies so im happy to get one serve of veg into him this way.

How do I add ginger.. is it grated and a teaspoon or is that little no point? Are these smoothies going to make me gain weight? I use water not milk to mix with but still I worry!

Can I blend a cup of spinach or kale with water then freeze that so my fresh stuff doesnt go off before I get to use it? Or it wont freeze well like that?
Any tips for a beginner like me?
Oh and my blender does leave me with grass clipping texture but ds doesnt seem to mind at this stage so will stick with the blender we have I suppose!

I don't drink green smoothies myself but regarding the weight gain question - look at the ingredients you're putting in, they're low calorie, high nutrient fruit and veggies, the only way you'll put on weight from them is if you drink litres of the stuff every day!! I actually think a few of the ingredients might even be "negative calorie" foods in that it burns more calories digesting them than are even in the food.

Not sure about the rest of your questions :-)

    Just beem googling..
Apparently its best to lightly steam your kale before blending.. and you can freeze it once blended with water. .
