That's fantastic, sounds like a great OB I went public too, but I assume the sooner you book in the better.

Becca, hope you enjoy having your mum around. I love that extra bit of help you get when you don't have to ask - mums are the best!

I, on the other hand wished I'd had him for my other kids. Well, I tried for DD but I rang up too late! I used to see it as a 'luxury' for me, whereas now I see how it would have meant a much better outcome for everyone for all of the births. But I've heard that there are some great public hospitals around for care...just not ours.

I wanted to go to the same hospital I had the twins at but they're a big hospital and mostly take on high risk pregnancies. They're a fantastic public hospital.

The one closest to me is ummm not so fantastic. Left both of my arms bruised from elbows to wrists trying to put a drip in. 3 nurses, 2 different doctors. They don't have a very good reputation

I got an infection, not on the surface, but within my arm where they put my canula in for DD at the public...and they took my bp on that arm (it was in my elbow) - it wasn't until I questioned why they were taking my bp on that arm that they realised that my canula was in. Compared to the very competent anaethetist at the private who was in quick, did his thing, didn't feel a thing and was done with no infections. This is just one small part - so many things went wrong in the public including almost the death of our first, an unnecessary cs, the death of 4 other babies in utero that all could have been prevented. There's probably more, but that's what comes to mind right away.

Wobbler - I just heard about the motel too. For us, the hospital was closer and we were fortunate to receive the room with the double bed, but the motel would probably have the nicer food again. I wonder if they'd let you leave with the baby to go and have coffee! My experience at the private was so good they were lucky I left

Awesome anesthetist I used to work with, he looked at me closely and probably couldn't work out why knew me lol except I was nolonger a bubbly fit size 10 with lots of makeup on lol, hope he still works for him in a few yrs.

Mum said she liked it when we were bubs and hospitals had a nursery and they encouraged parents to go out to tea the night before going home.

There is no way I could have gone out without ds in the first week or so, it was bad enough when my Mum ran off with him to the other end of the house on day 4. Haha. Actually the newborn stage was great for going out for dinner with bub as he would just sleep...now we can only go to restaurants when ds is in a suitable mood.

Speaking of going out, dp and I just had our first baby free date. She slept the whole time for my parents.
