    Default Pregnancy Pains

    Hello

This is my first pregnancy and I am 20 years old...I have been experiencing quite a bit of pain and I am only 4 weeks pregnant. I was in hospital the other night and they have me coming back tonight to ensure my HCG levels have doubled. I'm confident the baby is okay and I'm just trying to stay positive. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar pain? It's much like period pain but I get a tugging feeling down there and the occasional stabbing pain on the right hand side. I don't like to take prescription medication so have been just using my wheat bag. My bloods came back fine and the doctors don't seem too worried. Perhaps it's just growing pains? I'm usually a size 6 and weigh 47 kilos but in the past few weeks I've put on 5 kilos!

Any advice or similar stories would be appreciated!

Can be normal, It's mainly due to the uterus stretching and sometimes because of gas and bloating. I found the first two months of my pregnancy quite uncomfortable because of that. Sounds like you have a snug little baby in there

Yes I was the same. Lots of pulling tugging feelings that were quite painful. I'm also quite small in frame.....
I was too scared to use a wheat bag though. I imagined it maybe over heating the baby! Probably silly of me in hindsight haha

I'm 5 weeks 6 days (found out two weeks ago that I'm pregnant), and I've been getting some bad period type pains from time to time. Feels worse for me as I don't normally get pain. I got the same thing with DD though. If I'm at home, I just use my wheat bag, my OB with DD said it was fine

Can be very normal. Both pregs I have had period-type/ tugging pains and little stabby pains in the first 6-8ish weeks, it was just things stretching, and it was much worse with #1 than #2. Hopefully all goes well for you.

Thank you so much for your responses ladies, this makes me feel much better. I guess in the back of my head I am a little worried and just want to get past the 12 week threshold. Knowing that others have experienced the same pain makes me feel much better. I am just so excited about becoming a mother. Is it just me or does time slow right down as soon as you find out?!

The sharp pain is probably the corpus luteum forming that produces the hormones in first trim to support pregnancy.

If the sharper pain is just on one side then I'd say this was likely too. I had pain from a simple ovarian cyst for a few weeks, and period pain like cramps for the whole first trimester.
    So pretty normal (annoying though!)
