Default Using 2 different day care options

I'm going to be returning to work when baby is 12 months old. I'll be needing day care 2 days a week. I've found a FDC that I'm very happy with - bub seems happy when we visit and the lady comes highly recommended by colleagues who's judgement I trust. I get a good vibe there. Luckily she can offer us a place but unfortunately only 1 day a week at the moment and until another place comes up. That could be sooner or later.

I'm thinking I should take up the offer of one day so my "foot is in the door" when another spot arises, but this will mean bub will most likely have to start day care at two different places. At first this seemed like I'm setting us both up for failure, but on reflection so long as we settle him in well at both places (and we have a couple of months to do that) it's probably no different than him going to care on one day and being cared for by relatives the other day (a common scenario).

At this stage I'll probably look for FDC for the other day in the interim, but long day care is an option as well. I've got my name down for a few other places I liked and have more to visit.

Any tips or advice? Have you used 2 different day care options with a 12-18 month old with or without success? Am I crazy to attempt it?

If I had the option of two daycare days I would do that.

But if not, agree you can make it work and hopefully you get two days at FDC soon.

Cheers. I'll keep searching but right now the chances of finding somewhere as lovely as our first preference that also has 2 days available seems like lotto. Will keep looking because we could strike gold or perhaps praying to the working mother gods will make another day available with our first preference.

Some centres have a 2 day minimum. Call a few and check first.
