    Default Washing machine recommendations?

Well, today out five year old front loading 7kg Electrolux Time Manager washing machine has bitten the dust... Yup, just outside f the extended warranty period pretty disappointed, I'm sure appliances used to last longer than this!

Apparently the drum has come off it's bearings and is wobbling (has been making funny noises for a while) and the band that keeps the drum connected to the motor and spinning has finally come off and will keep coming off if put back on now pretty gutted. Spending money on a new washing machine - just what we want 7 weeks before bub is due!

Anyways, anybody have a good recommendation for a washing machine? We have a teeny tiny laundry and have to stack the washing machine and dryer, so I'd prefer another front loader, but DH is pushing for a top loader because someone told him they last longer. No idea where he is thinking the dryer will live :/ any ideas on that one appreciated too I guess haha!

Our first machine, Hoover top loader, died at 3yrs old.
Second machine, Bosch front loader just died at just shy of 4yrs, but it copped a flogging! We had 8 people in the household those 4yrs and it was only 6.5kgs so was doing 2-3 loads every day.
We just bought a new AEG front loader last week. It comes with a 5yr warranty, free delivery and installation and they take your old machine, so that sold me. If I get a full 5yrs I'll be happy. So far I love it. I thought the Bosch was good, but this one is washing even better! Getting stains out that I thought were stuck.

Whatever u do don't buy a whirlpool. We had major problems and now that they are selling up and closing whirlpool down we had major issues on trying to get it fixed for the 3rd time. They ended up replacing it with a Fischer and pykel which is the best one we have ever owned!

Didn't have any problems with our LG 5kg washing machine, had it for 8 years or so, and boy did it take a beating from being moved around (we rented). We sold it and upgraded to another LG 7kg washing machine when DD was born.

My LG front loader was excellent for years and years. My hubby is a tradie, we have twins, live on a farm with hard water etc etc and it lasted really well under tough conditions. Just bought another one. Not highly priced but great.

We have a 9kg Westinghouse top loader and it gets a good workout daily with a large family...it's 9 yrs old, we've moved three times and hasn't had a problem yet.

Our LG front loader is still going strong after 8 years. We're only going to get rid of it as we now need something bigger.
