Default Has anyone tried Ovulation Induction?

    Hi ladies,

I've been reading ttc forums for a while now but have never actually posted anything.. so please bare with me, I hope this is how you do it!

I have been ttc for 22 months. At 14 months I had a d+c and had some (mild) endo removed. Then went onto try clomid for 5 months with no success. DH tests are all normal.

I have never had a problem with O'ing and have regular cycles (usually about 28-29 days). Our case has been labelled as 'unexplained fertility' (so frustrating..).

My specialist has suggested I try ovulation induction before we go onto try IVF. From what I understand it's a range of injections before O, then a shot to bring on O, try to conceive "naturally" (as naturally as it can be, being whacked out on artificial hormones!) then maybe some trigger shots?

I'm curious to know whether anyone has tried this and whether they got their bfp from it?? I'd love to hear some success stories!!

Thanks girls and baby dust to all!!

Hi ItWillHappen85, welcome to the threads sounds like you have had a frustrating journey especially not knowing what your issues with fertility are, easier in some ways to know what you are dealing with. Just thought I would replay to let you know my circumstances, I have PCOS and don't ovulate by myself at all. Back in 2010 I went through Ovulation induction through injections and was successful in conceiving my DD who is now 3. I am currently trying injections again to conceive bub no.2 but it all seems to be harder 2nd time around, we have done 6 cycles so far, 1 of which was cancelled due to over stimulation and 2 I didn't ovulate at all (my ob confused a tubal cyst I had with follicles on both occasions). I am currently in my Tww on my 6th cycle but have no symptoms so far - we will see. You might find the injections support thread on the fertility support threads more of an active thread with lots of women going through the same thing who are very supportive. Hi, I have done OI previously. I have PCOS and never ovulated by myself. I had one cycle to get my DD and I have just completed 5 cycles and and now 6 weeks pregnant. It seems to be more difficult the second time around.

    Good luck with everything.

Hi @ItWillHappen85, I'm currently doing IUI with ovulation induction. IUI is with donor sperm as I am part of a same sex couple. I took clomid for days 2-7, and had a scan for follicles today (cd 12). Two 2.9mm follicles ready to go, and did Ovidril trigger this evening ready for IUI on Friday. You'll be able to skip that last step....
Have been fortunate-no real symptoms from Clomid, Ovidril doesn't hurt etc. this is our second IUI round, hoping it works. Best of luck to you and your DP

my first FS said as i ovulated naturally OI was a waste of time and I should go straight to IVF.

I didn't believe her so got a second opinion who put me on OI (with clomid and trigger) to trial for 6 months. 4 months later I was over it went back and asked to start IVF earlier than the 6 months. BFP first round of IVF.

Now with hindsight I probably should have just jumped straight into IVF given I was ovulating naturally but I wanted to explore all other options first and give it everything I could given IVF was no guarantees either. It really is a personal decision and at what time emotionally and financially you want to go to the next step on each occasion.

Thank you so much for all of your replies, I really appreciate it!!
@Heyside thank you for your positive story! I really hope this is your round, I have my for you, the tww is the WORST. Sending lots of positive vibes your way - thanks for the other link too!
@pjk congratulations!! Thanks for the positive story, always fills me with some hope!
@Jk565 wishing you and your DP all the best! You're lucky Clomid had no effect on you, my poor DH copped it haha. It's good to hear the trigger didn't hurt - is it a syringe? I am comfortable with the pen but the actual needle looking thing freaks me out! I hope Friday went well? for your TWW
@HeyMissA congratulations on your BFP!! Your story is exactly what I was worried about, as OI really seems to help those who couldn't ovulate on their own. You did the right thing though, based on the difference in cost between the two treatments why wouldn't you try it haha. I'm not doing it with Clomid, I'm injecting Puregon and will be using a Pregnyl trigger (I think) probably all the same though. I think I want to take a leaf out of your book and if it doesn't work in the first month (impatient I know) I will look into IVF too. I can't seem to get a straight answer about the cost though, I hope it's not too expensive!

Heyside and Jk565 please keep me posted, I have everything crossed for your BFPs!!!
