That's a really good point. I've never know any different than HECS and it scares me that my kids may never know any different to having to pay an absolute fortune for an education

If u are a parent under 30 who looses their job - do u have to wait 6 months to get newstart or not?

I'm not sure if it applies to parents (don't they get a different kind,if payment) but in general if you're under 30, yes the wait is 6 months but you get one month 'discount' for every year you have worked.

If they are looking for work and their child is school age, then yes, parents get Newstart as well.

I just really don't actually know what will happen to single parents if they can't find work. Families will become homeless it's absolutely terrifying. I was meant to be studying soon but I'm not even sure if that's going to be possible now

Even if they do newstart is not enough to live on not if you're paying rent

That's on top of losing FTB B as well. These changes are terrifying! Really hope they are all blocked in the senate.

Because it's only the start.... I really hope they get blocked too. But I don't really know how it all works so I'm not feeling overly confident

They aren't scrapping FBT B, they're reducing the threshold down from $150,000 to $100,000.

    Well that's my understanding anyway.

Or is there more to it than that?
