I think what people are forgetting is that the fall out isn't just federal govt based. The states are saying they simply cannot function with the billions lost from schools and health. So we aren't just going to feel the bite of the govt's policies. We are going to get hit with a higher GST (which was Abbott's plan all along - strangle the states so they hike up the GST to survive then blame the states for it) and who knows what else from the state govts too.

It's not scaremongering, it's reality.
Here's another article about what it will cost families long term.
Thats a lot of money and to quote the government "a lot of heavy lifting" being done, but none by the wealthiest.
I mean imagine if they (the mining companies, etc) only made $320 billion for example instead of $340 billion. It would kill them *tongue firmly in cheek*.
Even if it is media beat up, there are plenty of people who aren't the media, who know about these things who have no bias either way saying that these measures are going to cause lots of problems. Like the AMA for example.
I wouldn't trust a word out of Hockey's mouth, media beat up or not, the truth ist that they have gone back on every single promise they made at the election. Why would anyone trust what they say now.

Article 2. Absolutely it's going to impact families greatly, I don't disagree with you, it's really tough. And I totally thing the rich should be slugged more.
BUT I do still stick by my statement there is embellishing of facts in the media.
