    Default Pregnancy vitamins and Anaemia

    Hi ladies,

I'm taking a swisse vitamin for pregnancy, but my iron levels were only a 7 when tested last week so the doctor is getting me to take a liquid iron supplement. I'm just curious as I compared the iron in swisse to the iron in elevit - and elevit has like 60mg compared to the 5mg in swisse. I'm back to my doc tomorrow, but will ask at the chemist whether they think I'm best to just swap multivitamin.

has anyone else been a similar situation and how much iron did you take to compensate?

    Thanks

I have alway be advised by GP and OB to take Elevit over any other prenatal/pregnancy vitamin.

I get low in iron at times, but not with anaemia, and so far taking Elevit has Ben enough for me, but my levels are only slightly lower than the norm.

The multivitamins won't give you enough iron.

If your doctor has advised you to take iron supplements, then you need to take an actual iron supplement. Multivitamins won't cut it, I'm sorry.

I'm taking the iron supplement anyway… just wondering if I am better off switching to the Elevit because it has higher levels of a few things. My doctor didnt seem concerned by the type of prenatal vitamin I was on

I've always taken Elevit over any other iron supplement - it's what my OB and other specialists recommended
