Default Advice appreciated - male and possible females issues

My hubby and I have recently started seeing a fertility specialist as I was diagnosed with PCOS by my GP (after 21 day test and ultrasound results). My FS was not convinced I do have PCOS because I still get my period (although my cycle lengths vary between 30 and 39 days). He did further blood tests for me and hubby and hubby did a semen sample.
We went back today and I had ovulated and I have lots of eggs. He still isn't sure if I have PCOS, Endo, something else, or nothing.. However hubby's semen results weren't good. FS said he had really healthy sperm on all accounts except TMC was very low (.45 million or something I think?!). I wish I asked for a copy of the results now..
He said we really needed to do IVF.. Hubby is doing another semen test to see if it was a one off.
I'm feeling so confused, I thought there were issues with me but now it's with hubby. I keep thinking I know what's going on and we'll have a solution and then it's not that.
Is there anything else we should be trying before IVF? I feel scared if it doesn't work and it's so much money but we are also so longing for a baby..
    Thanks for reading

My husband and I had been trying for 2 years before we seen a FS. I was diagnosed with PCOS and I'm regular 28 days on the dot. Hubby had low sperm count after 2 tests and also is a carrier for cystic fibrosis gene so we had to do icsi. We had no other choice. We were lucky enough to have our family help us out otherwise we wouldn't be able to have a family. After 3 cycles of ivf we are finally expecting our first bubba on 1 July

I know it's costly (we still have to pay back our family members) but it is so worth it in the end.

I'm not sure what else you could do before ivf but wishing you lots of luck xo

Thanks so much for the response @Mona424 and congratulations on the upcoming arrival It must be so exciting after waiting so long!

We are also very fortunate that we have savings and could afford the first round. Is it the same price each time do you know?

We thought it was me too, and it was as I have Rheumatiod Arthritis and my immune system was killing off any "invaders" in my womb.

What we didn't know was that DH had anti sperm antibodies from an accident when he was younger (it happens when blood gets into the sperm) and had low motility as well.

We ended up using IVF...and after 3 rounds we finally got our miracle

DH had a few issues coming to terms with it...and hated the collection process but he did it and I am so proud of him

Thanks for sharing @ River Song I'm so pleased you got your little miracle
Yes we are both having a difficult time coming to terms with it but hubby has been so good and doing whatever is required so I'm very thankful to being going through it with him.

Thanks we went with Genea who were previously Sydney ivf. Our first round was $12,500, and got back about $5,500 from Medicare and $1,000 from private health. When we transferred a frozen embryo it was about $3,000 and we got about half back which combined of private health and Medicare. It all depends on which type of ivf u have to have, isci was one of the most expensive.

I hope that helps I'm sending good vibes to you!

Also, our third round we had to pay $12,500 again as we had to do a fresh cycle again. $6,000 back from Medicare (reached the safety net for the year so got more back this time) and $1,500 back from private health.

Hi again. Thanks for the replies. ImageUploadedByThe Bub Hub1400237515.093709.jpgHubby went back today for another test and I asked him to get the results of his last one (so I can google away!)
I've been googling and no luck interpreting this. What I don't get is that his results are all normal and then at the end "TSP performed TMC = .45 million sperm" That is what made the FS say we would need IVF. Does anytime know what TSP means??
I've attached a picture hoping someone might be able to help us understand. Thank you.

Sorry to jump on this page like this but need some advice. I was diagnosed with low estrogen. I got put on clomid 50mg and ovulated so im all good but my hubby just found out today that he has low sperm count amd slow swimmers. We wont see our de for another month cos we work away.
Where do we go from here . Ivf??
Ivd heard you only need one sperm to fertilse an egg. What is the likelyhood of this happening does anyone know or should we just go ivf. I could wait a year if I had to. We both 28 and healthy

Willow this had just been discovered to be our problem. DH is 0.4 million so very close to your DH. This is the sperm count. I don't know what the code stands for but basically the lowest they class as good count is 4 million. We are now trying a heap of supplements and diet changes so we'll see if it improves in 20d
