    Default Help desperate for answers

Hope someone can direct me where to go,I have just had my 5th loss,I'm 40years old,had 4 miscarriages and 1 ectopic, this last pregnancy was not trying and was over the moon, specialist put me on baby aspirin and 2x 200 mg progesterone as soon as I found out but again near the 5 to 6 week mark I lost it.he seems to think its my age and egg quality however I have heard about the affect the natural killer cells can have on the embryo.my doc just wants me to go straight to ivf but am afraid it will just end at the 5 week mark,I am feeling hopeless and a with a bleak future,I don't want to spend time and $$$ on ivf cycles if there is a chance it's a immune problem, would greatly appreciate any advice

Sorry to hear of your struggles Dolly, it sounds like you need some further testing. Do you have a FS? If so can you ask them for further testing or change specialists for a second opinion? They could start some testing for high NK cells, your AMH for ovarian reserve, and other thoughts were thyroid issues etc, most of these can be screened for in simple blood tests
You could look into supplements such as DHEA for egg quality.

An infertility specialist will be able to point you in the right direction. They can refer you to get genetics testing done, but can also conduct many tests themselves. Given your age, I'd be getting on to this asap, if you can find the $. At the moment you're probably fairly certain that the natural way isn't going anywhere, so I'd hedge my bets on going the assisted way for sure. I'd also ask myself if I looked back on what I could've/should've done, would I regret not having intervened. If that regret is substantial, I think you have a clear answer.
Good luck and sorry for your losses.

    Default Thank you

Thank you for your quick replays, I have been seeing a Fertility Specialist from the brisbanes Wesley hospital s monash ivf since June 2012 and when I said a year ago should I go to ivf he said not yet as I'm getting pregnant.my mother has a thyroid condition so I have been tested for that as well as several other blood tests.I have not had the N.K cell test and I did ask about it but he just said ivf,I am sceptical as I don't think it's my egg quality, 4 losses all around the 4 to 5 week mark, who is to say the same thing won't happen,i. Happy you. Both believe further investigation is needed, unfortanetly I don't think my FS does the NK test, does anyone know where the best place to go for it is.my time is diminishing and it's such a desperate feeling I carry all the times

    Hi Dolly,

Many girls with immune issues in Bris have been treated by Dr Warren De Ambrosis - he is Bris based, not sure which clinic.

If I was in Bris I would only see him, he is popular but highly regarded.

You could also make a phone appt with. Dr Matthias in Sydney. He has incredible success treating women with recurrent mc and ivf failure. Read through the nk cells threads they have tons of info. Xx

    Default Update

So yesterday I get confirmation that pregnancy 5 is not viable.I asked my Fs about the test for NKC and he basically said "us doctors don't believe in it",I went on to ask if steroids could help and he says" we could definitely try that while you are on ivf", he said ivf and genetic testing was the only option now, I asked if I started the progesterone after ovulation would help and he said no. I have since found out by talking to ladies where I work that progesterone after ovulation has helped indeed and also steroids have helped. I now sit and think of all the $$$ I have put into this specialist for what now seems a hopeless road ahead but I don't wanna give up.Im off to my local GP tmoro to ask for the NKC test and for it to be sent to Sydney,I then am going to ask for more progesterone and steroids, I don't believe ivf is my only option because of "old eggs",am just really bummed that I have lost 5 Miracles, it is indescribable heartache to anyone not going thru any kind of loss, I'm very grateful for this site, I won't give up even if I'm knocking on 41

Dolly lots of ladies have had success with a FS in Brisbane called dr warren de ambrosis (know as wazza). He is happy to treat using an immune protocol. Your FS sounds very unsupportive of your wishes.

Hi dolly, I think warren is your best bet. Please give his office a call and make an appointment. He does have a long wait list but sometimes cancellations come up. He is part of Queensland fertility group - dr warren de Ambrosis. Thanks to Wazza, I have two beautiful girls 4 years old and 9 months old. I wouldn't waste anymore time on mediocre doctors. Warren is the best and his standard protocol includes steroids and blood thinners for all his patients.
