I am rooting for: Darwin Army Wife, Flight Hostess Lady, Ben the Leukaemia-Survivor...and Byron the hottie!
Just some of my favourites thus far.

I don't have any favourites yet. A bit too soon. I need to see more of the show first. In previous years I've found the first couple of weeks a bit slow but this season has launched right into it...and their cooking seems amazing! Looking forward to tonight - mystery box challenge, always entertaining!!!

Yes, I like MrsHarvey's descriptions too. Cat74, I applaud your restraint, I really do!! I give my heart up too easily in Masterchef, and get emotionally-involved too easily!! But I really love the Mystery-Box Challenge; I think it really distinguishes the "great" cooks from the "good" ones. Especially when they come up with something completely "outside the box", so to speak. I hope they are doing Masterclass again this year; for me, that is the closest to "food porn" one gets!! And oh sweet Gary!!

@J37 DH and I like to look at the ingredients the contestants are given and come up with our own ideas of what we would make in that situation.

DH actually applied and got called for an audition for season 1 of Masterchef Australia. Unfortunately by the time the auditions came around we weren't in a position for him to take three months off work if he was successful, so he gave up his spot but have been addicted to the show ever since because he reckons one year he will apply again.

Bahaha! I'll start remembering their names soon...er...probably.

So far I like Smiley Darwin, Ocker Former Carpenter, Emotional Flight Attendant and Failed Ravioli.

Thinking Second Chance Draw, I Love My Gran and Italian Prodigy may grow on me (if they stop saying 'like' all the time).

Bobby Pin is seriously competitive, which I'm not a huge fan of.

Paula Yates, Sweaty Deck Hand and Pommy Dentist seriously annoy me.

And I will forever mourn the early exit of Tall Skeleton. I loved his enthusiasm.

Cat74, wow!!! So does DH pull out amazing meals at home? Does he have any training, or self-taught?

I need to wait generally until the top ten as I don't want to form a relationship with someone only to lose them It's serious business, they have to please me not just in the cooking stakes but also personality-wise, as well as aesthetically. It's dangerous to become too attached also... Look at Marion! Devastating! And Kumar! I think I cried! It's hard on one!

Self-taught. His cooking is amazing. I'm very lucky. We split the cooking 50-50 but he's a lot more inventive than I am. I need a recipe as a starting point; he's happy to make it up as he goes along.

I think I mixed up tall skeleton with ocker former carpenter the other day. I was referring to tall skeleton when I said he looked like he survived on alfalfa sprouts... The guy that got kicked off.
