When I was a SAHM I definitely wasn't lonely. Mind you I wasn't sitting around the house day in day out, I was out walking, having coffee with other mums, school pick up and drop offs and play group. I was however not mentally stimulated hence why I went back to work. Looking forward to having 12 months off again soon though.

I want to go back to work at least part time but I cant, until at least next year when DS2 starts pre-prep. That adds to it I think, I tend to isolate myself a lot because of my anxiety issues. One you isolate yourself its really hard to pull myself out of it. DH jokes about me becoming a shut in one day because I withdraw so much.

I never used to, but now I don't have the motivation to leave the house so it's definitely lonely.

Arent you lucky you have children that cope with that. I have a son who cant handle going out to the shops etc except in small bursts. Daily trips to bright, crowded, stimulating places is not something we can do.

I get very bored, lonely and frustrated.. I like being around people ( that are over 4!!) during the day.. Love playgroup days but have become a bit socially awkward over the years thanks to a dumb ex, so it is kinda hard to meet ppl..

My kids are great company but not very responsive when I start moaning about the lack of parking at my kids school, never ending washing or want to chat about the hunky parcel man that comes by!

I have made some great friends, but Miss4 doesn't cope well with many ppl..

Yes I do.. a lot..Been sahm for almost 7 years now, I don't like my chances of going back to work as DH travels a lot and I need to be at home as we don't have family here...I meet up with some mums every Friday, I don't always go but they always have this Friday get together so it's kind of nice to have that access to socialize.

It certainly is. It makes everyday things that other people do without thinking (like picking up the phone, making plans to see a friend etc), so incredibly hard.
