Default farex / baby rice cereal / solids in general

would just like to know at what age did you start your kids / babies on rice cereal or solids??
the reason I ask is because the "start age" for solids now is 6mths.. back when I had my othee ds' now 11 and 7 the age for solids was 3 mths ( ds2 had to start farex @ 8 weeks coz he was always hungry) but do you now follow old rules being 3 mths or do you follow the 6mths?

i was told 4-6 months by my nurse this year. she said not to go strictly by age but to watch for things like interest in food, putting everything in their mouths and being able to sit up assisted. we started at 4 months because my bubba was keen

I started my kids at 6-7mths old on normal food via BLW. I have never given my two rice cereal as I do not feel it has any nutritional value.

I've done the same with both my boys. BLW from the start at 6-7 months old. No rice cereal here.

This. As a pp said there's no nutritional benefit from processed rice cereal so maybe start with purée veggies. I didn't do BLW as I don't believe it has any long term benefits ( plus I couldn't have coped with the amount of waste!!)

Started just about 1-2 weeks shy of 6 mths. Started with mashed banana, cooked and puréed veges, and from 6 mths bellamy's porridge before bed with some diluted cows milk.

The official word now is to start "around 6 months".

We've always started with 4 months to the day. Ds2 wasn't ready though and so we stopped and startedagain at 4m3w.

I also always added fruit purée to my farex. Apple pumpkin or pear.

My oldest is 8.5 and back then, my child health nurse advised me to start at 6 months, which I did, I then went on to do BLW for my next two, starting about a week prior to them turning 6 months.
