    Question Pregnant with Mirena?

Hello. I had my Mirena placed in August 2013, and so far it's been a pretty decent experience. I used to 'spot' for only a day when a new cycle was beginning, but lately I haven't had any spotting in 2 months or so...

The past few days I feel like I've been experiencing 'pregnancy symptoms' and I feel a little crazy since I know that I have the Mirena, that there's less than a 1% chance of pregnancy (I know--there's STILL a chance)...but I've only ever experienced some of the symptoms I'm expericing while pregnant with my first child.

The symptoms that I'm experiencing are:
    -bloating / exhaustion
-headache / backache (i normally don't get many bad headaches)
-fever / chills (it was 70 degrees out yesterday and I was huddled under blankets freezing, yet had been sweating)
    -nausea (smells making nausea worse)
-increased smells (I can smell things that other's can't--or it's an increased smell)

I know that many are going to say take a pregnancy test, or to go to the doctor's...as I do plan on doing as soon as I leave work this afternoon---I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced this, since it is a horomone that can make your body 'think' it's pregnant without actually being pregnant, or if anyone else has actually gotten pregnant while the Mirena was inserted.

    Thank you all!

I get the crazy, vivid dreams, just like I do when pregnant.

Hope the test puts your mind at ease.

My friend had the mirena and was experiencing pregnancy symptoms. A GP visit and an ultrasound showed the mirena was "lost" in her uterus and she had to have surgery to find it and remove it. It messed her body up heaps.

I'd go to the drs and get it checked out just to be certain. Good luck.

Hi op. Just wondering if you did a hpt and if u don't mind sharing the test result? Reason I ask is I am on Mirena as well and last month had some spotting but less than usual. I don't feel pregnant but just more tired than usual and have put on some weight (but probably from eating too much). Sometimes the 1% probability worries me.

THere have been a few posts on here where people have fallen pregnant so definitely possible. It's probably more likely the hormones making you feel that way. Did you take a test? Is probably see a dr to see if it's still in place.

I fell pregnant with the mirena. My little medina miracle is 8 months old in 5days. I had the mirena in the whole pregnancy. I've now got my tubes clamped.

My bestie is pregnant when she had the Mirena. They think it came out with heavy bleeding and she didn't notice. She's now 8 months!

Wow. How many months pregnant before you realized?

If you look up Mirena symptoms, funnily enough most of them are the same as some pregnancy symptoms. I occasionally get minor symptoms like waves of nausea, headaches, bloating and cramping, and my AF is now just a small mucous blob one day a month. But those symptoms are few and far between for me so I don't personally read anything into it.

For peace of mind, by all means go to the doctor, but the symptoms sound pretty stock standard to me.
