I thought you said your FS charged $10000 per cycle. If so, $1200 for NKC tests seems cheap in comparison. Surely you'd get something back on that too? Do you have PHI?

IVF Australia charges $175 for NKC testing. http://ivf.com.au/fertility-treatmen...r-cell-testing

Their website says it can be done at patient's request: "NK Cell Activity testing can be considered for patients in the following situations - recurrent miscarriage (defined as 3 successive miscarriages if aged less than 35 years, 2 successive miscarriages if aged over 35 years), repeated IVF failure (defined as 2 or more unsuccessful fresh IVF cycles), unexplained infertility (where a patient does not want IVF), patient request, future fertility concerns."

Boysie.... pretty much everything I would recommend has been said, but I just will reiterate the main points:
    - in this IVF business unfortunately you need to do your own research (that's what Bubhub has been so great for) and really push your FS to do things you want
    - yes, it's good to join a couple of different threads here on Bubhub - you mentioned that you looked at the Over 40s one (which I'm also on), but as you're 38, turning 39, also check out the 30s one
    - if you have had some BFPs but they didn't last, then you really need to get tested for immune issues, but not just NKCs - you need to test TSH, thyroid antibodies, ANAs (anti-nuclear antibodies) and NKCs (natural killer cells) - these are minimum - some FSs will test most of these, but really, if you want to make a proper go of this, you need to invest big dollars, and go and see Dr Mattias who is THE specialist in this field
    - have you been having an endo scratch the month before cycles? almost all FSs do this as standard now
    - consider taking aspirin and prednisolone from d1 of AF of the cycle, as this helps issues with implantation - these two meds are almost also being used by everyone (with and without immune issues)

I have had 10 IVF cycles and will shortly be starting #11, so I certainly know how you feel.

Cinderella.... my FS did my NKC biopsy, but it didn't cost me anything, and was just put through Douglas Hannly path lab. It was basically like a pap smear. The only difference was that it took about two weeks to get the results back (unlike most BTs and path tests that just take a day or two). Perhaps it was absorbed in the cost of my cycle, as I'm with IVFA and wasn't charged anything? Perhaps you ought to ask again about that?

I was going to see a reproductive immunologist called dr Mattias, apparently he's the guy to see for these things. I was all set to go through all the tests and pay for all the drugs plus maybe Ivf before the hubby was made redundant but now we only just have enough for rent cause they haven't paid him out yet and he's only working 2 days at most a week.
I haven't had one bfp in my 52 months (all up) of ttc. I was diagnosed as unexplained infertility this year after getting me ovulating again and doing follicular tracking with no result. My fs wants me to go onto Ivf so am currently not doing anything but waiting since he refused to test me for high nk cells despite my auto immune issues.

Hopefully our business takes off and we are rich in no time, then we can get all the tests I want.

Hi Boysie & welcome! I'm sorry you've had to join us here but the girls are so supportive & I find it good to have others who actually understand what you're going through. It sounds like you've been through so much & I hope your BFP is just around the corner!

Cinder, the costs associated with ivf & other tests are just awful! We've only done one cycle of ivf & find it difficult to stick on top of all the other tests they want you to have on top if it. With all our previous treatments & tests, it is adding up to huge amounts. And I wanted to try & save so I could have a proper year off work & take a step back.

Phee, I'm glad to hear that everything's going along really well! That's so exciting you've got twins on board !

Del, that's great that you're going well too! I love seeing all these lovely ladies getting their well deserved BFP & it gives me hope I wish we were all in a DIG together, haha.

Star, long cycles suck & are hard! It's just not fair. After years of wishing that af wouldn't turn up, I can't believe how often I now want it to come!

Afm, I'm still waiting for AF too but I don't think it's going to get here this time around. I'll call QFG on Mon to see if I can start taking provera. We still haven't received moving dates from work, although I now have a job to go to which is great! Same organisation, better job. I was actually debating if I should put off my ivf transfer until after the move to give me time to settle into a new job but then I think that we've waited long enough & I guess we'll see what happens. After waiting almost 4 years, I'm sure it'll all happen at the same time as the move & needing to find a house! I won't complain though, will just try not to let anything cause stress I have another baby shower to go to today so I will get lots of new born cuddles as some friends who've just recently had their bubs will be there, which will be good

Those of you in nsw I know I've probably said this before but definitely consider westmead fertility centre. I was under their care for 1 year, did two cycles ( 1stim,1FET) and all up over the 12 months my out of pocket costs were less than $2000. I found them to be very organised, professional and kept me informed every step of the way. It was really budget cost ivf with still a top service x

@CinderElla88 - what treatment did your FS put you on for ovulation? Do you have regular cycles?

@bel2466 - I'm going to suck up the costs with my clinic first. In the horrible scenario that I need to have multiple cycles, I may switch to WFC. Asked about the costs and mine will cost around $3500 OOP for a freshy and $1500 for a FET.
